: Computed tomography of the kidneys, ureters, and bladder (CT KUB) is essential for evaluating urinary stones but also exposes patients to significant radiation. The scanning field should be minimized to only the necessary area to limit this radiation exposure. This study aims to assess the extent of CT KUB overscanning in renal colic procedures and identify the appropriate vertebral level for starting CT KUB scans.

Background: Prevention of iron deficiency in suckling piglets by intramuscular injection of a standardized amount of iron dextran or gleptoferron in the first days of life can lead to over- or underdosage with respective health risks. Currently, combined iron products containing an active substance against coccidia are also used on farms. When using a combination product targeting two diseases, an adjustment of the necessary amount of iron to prevent anaemia in the frame of a farm-specific treatment protocol is not possible.

The traditional approach, such as thyroid blind lobectomy, is the most frequent modality of treatment due to the possible unclear localization of the adenoma in the preoperative workup. This increases the risk of unnecessary probability of hypothyroidism.
