AI Article Synopsis

Article Abstract

A Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, aerobic and heterotrophic strain, designated 1-19b, was isolated from surface seawater in the Indian Ocean. The cells were ovoid or coccus (0.8-1.0 µm in diameter) with no flagellum. Activities of catalase and oxidase were positive. Growth was observed at salinity of 0.5-10 (%NaCl, w/v) with an optimum of 3-4, at pH 5-10 with an optimum of 7-8, and at 5-37 °C with an optimum of 28-35 °C. It accumulated poly-β-hydroxybutyrate granules inside the cell. Bacteriochlorophyll a was absent. The respiratory quinone was Q-10 and the dominant fatty acid was summed feature 8 (C18 : 1ω7c and/or C18 : 1ω6c). The major polar lipids comprised phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, diphosphatidylglycerol, an unidentified phospholipid and two unidentified polar lipids. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain 1-19b belonged to the family Rhodobacteraceae and formed a distinct monophyletic clade with 'Oceaniovalibus guishaninsula' JLT2003 and Pontibaca methylaminivorans GRP21, exhibiting similarities of 94.7 and 92.2 %, respectively. The genomic DNA G+C content was 64.2 mol%. Based on the phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and genotypic data, strain 1-19b represents a novel species in a new genus of the family Rhodobacteraceae, for which the name Oceaniglobus indicus gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed, with the type strain 1-19b (=MCCC 1A11863=KCTC 52709).

Skin bacteria infection could be a potential risk factor on wound scar formation, yet the specifics of this relationship are not fully understood. This research investigates the causal relationships between specific skin microbiome and these diseases by using bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR). This study employed a bidirectional MR analysis using genome-wide association study (GWAS) data to analyze the associations between skin microbiome and pathological scar.

Macroalgae growth depends on biologically available nitrogen, such as ammonium and nitrate, making nitrogen the most common growth-limiting factor for macroalgae. However, the role of surface microorganisms in promoting nitrogen transformation and improving nitrogen utilization by macroalgae remains unclear. In this study, 228 bacterial strains were isolated from the surface of , and high-throughput sequencing revealed significant shifts in the composition of surface bacterial communities under different nitrogen concentrations.

Background: Early gut microbiota (GM) dysbiosis can affect a child's health and has been linked to the onset of pathologies later in life. Breast milk is recognized as a major driver of the structure and dynamics of an infant's GM. In addition to nutritious and prebiotic compounds, milk contains a microbiota that is shaped by several maternal factors, including gut microorganisms and medications.

In recent decades, antibiotics have been widely used in sea urchin aquaculture to prevent diseases and improve water quality. However, their use leads to the emergence of resistant strains and environmental problems. Probiotics can serve as a green and pollution-free alternative.

Gut microbiota plays a role in epilepsy. However, current knowledge of how gut dysbiosis is associated with a response to anti-seizure medications (ASMs) in epileptic children is still limited. We aimed to characterize the gut microbiota profiles in epileptic children based on response to ASMs.
