We report a Yb heavily doped photonic crystal fiber with 30 μm core diameter manufactured for the first time by an alternative technique. Silica core rods with a diameter of 3 mm and a length of 280 mm were prepared by the sodium-borosilicate glass phase-separation technology. The measurements show that the fiber has an Yb concentration of 22810 ppm by weight, and a resultant absorption of approximately 8.5 dB/m at 976 nm. The Yb ions are distributed throughout the fiber core with an excellent homogeneity. The laser performance demonstrates a high slope efficiency of 64.5% for laser emission at 1033.4 nm and a low power threshold of 3 W within a short fiber length of 1 m. This novel approach provides an alternative means of preparing large active silica rods with high doping levels and excellent material homogeneity for large mode area fibers with complex designs.

The growing demand for efficient, stable, and environmentally friendly photovoltaic technologies has motivated the exploration of nontoxic perovskite materials such as KGeCl. However, the performance of KGeCl-based perovskite solar cells (PSCs) depends heavily on the compatibility of charge transport layers (CTLs) and optimization of device parameters. In this study, six PSC configurations were simulated using SCAPS-1D software, incorporating CTLs such as Alq, CSTO, VO, PB, and SbS.

Trench MOS Barrier Schottky (TMBS) rectifiers offer superior static and dynamic electrical characteristics when compared with planar Schottky rectifiers for a given active die size. The unique structure of TMBS devices allows for efficient manipulation of the electric field, enabling higher doping concentrations in the drift region and thus achieving a lower forward voltage drop (VF) and reduced leakage current (IR) while maintaining high breakdown voltage (BV). While the use of trenches to push electric fields away from the mesa surface is a widely employed concept for vertical power devices, a significant gap exists in the analytical modeling of this effect, with most prior studies relying heavily on computationally intensive numerical simulations.

The hydrogenation of carbon dioxide into profitable chemicals is a viable path toward achieving the objective of carbon neutrality. However, the typical approach for hydrogenation of CO heavily relies on thermally driven catalysis at high temperatures, which is not aligned with the goals of carbon neutrality. Thus, there is a critical need to explore new catalytic methods for the high-efficiency conversion of CO.

Next-generation advanced high/pulsed power capacitors rely heavily on dielectric ceramics with high energy storage performance. Although high entropy relaxor ferroelectric exhibited enormous potential in functional materials, the chemical short-range order, which is a common phenomenon in high entropy alloys to modulate performances, have been paid less attention here. We design a chemical short-range order strategy to modulate polarization response under external electric field and achieve substantial enhancements of energy storage properties, i.

Unconventional superconductivity is known for its intertwining with other correlated states, making exploration of the intertwined orders important for understanding its pairing mechanism. In particular, spin and nematic orders are widely observed in iron-based superconductors; however, the presence of charge order is uncommon. Using scanning tunnelling microscopy, and through expanding the phase diagram of iron-arsenide superconductor BaKFeAs to the hole-doping regime beyond KFeAs by surface doping, we demonstrate the formation of a charge density wave (CDW) on the arsenide surface of heavily hole-doped BaKFeAs.
