Propagating electromagnetic light fields between nonparallel planes is of special importance, e.g., within the design of novel computer-generated holograms or the simulation of optical systems. In contrast to the extensively discussed evaluation between parallel planes, the diffraction-based propagation of light onto a tilted plane is more burdensome, since discrete fast Fourier transforms cannot be applied directly. In this work, we propose a quasi-fast algorithm (O(N log N)) that deals with this problem. Based on a proper decomposition into three rotations, the vectorial field distribution is calculated on a tilted plane using the spectrum of plane waves. The algorithm works on equidistant grids, so neither nonuniform Fourier transforms nor an explicit complex interpolation is necessary. The proposed algorithm is discussed in detail and applied to several examples of practical interest.

Self-organization realizes various nanostructures to control material properties such as superconducting vortex pinning and thermal conductivity. However, the self-organization of nucleation and growth is constrained by the growth geometric symmetry. To realize highly controlled three-dimensional nanostructures by self-organization, nanostructure formation that breaks the growth geometric symmetry thermodynamically and kinetically, such as tilted or in-plane aligned nanostructures, is a challenging issue.

This paper focuses on the modeling, control, and simulation of an over-actuated hexacopter tilt-rotor (HTR). This configuration implies that two of the six actuators are independently tilted using servomotors, which provide high maneuverability and reliability. This approach is predicted to maintain zero pitch throughout the trajectory and is expected to improve the aircraft's steering accuracy.

Magnesium and calcium carbonate minerals are significant reservoirs of Earth's carbon and understanding their behavior under different conditions is crucial for elucidating the mechanisms of deep carbon storage. Huntite, MgCa(CO), is one of the two stable calcium magnesium carbonate phases, together with dolomite. The distinctive cation coordination environment of Ca atoms compared to calcite-type and dolomite structures makes huntite a comparatively less dense phase.

In two-dimensional (2D) chiral metal-halide perovskites (MHPs), chiral organic spacers induce structural chirality and chiroptical properties in the metal-halide sublattice. This structural chirality enables reversible crystalline-glass phase transitions in (-NEA)PbBr, a prototypical chiral 2D MHP where NEA represents 1-(1-naphthyl)ethylammonium. Here, we investigate two distinct spherulite states of (-NEA)PbBr, exhibiting either radial-like or stripe-like banded patterns depending on the annealing conditions of the amorphous film.

Controlling the Mott transition through strain engineering is crucial for advancing the development of memristive and neuromorphic computing devices. Yet, Mott insulators are heterogeneous due to intrinsic phase boundaries and extrinsic defects, posing significant challenges to fully understanding the impact of microscopic distortions on the local Mott transition. Here, using a synchrotron-based scanning X-ray nanoprobe, we studied the real-space structural heterogeneity during the structural phase transition in a VO thin film.
