() is used as an important plant source of natural borneol, which is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry. The aim of this study was to establish the methods based on near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy for determining the geographical origin of , as well as developing a method for the quantitative rapid analysis of the active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). A total of 109 samples were collected from China in 2013 and arbitrarily divided into calibration and prediction sets using the Kennard-Stone algorithm. The -borneol and total flavone contents of the samples were measured by gas chromatography and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, respectively. The NIR spectra were acquired using an integrating sphere and a partial least squares (PLS) model was built using the optimum wavelength regions, which were selected using a synergy interval partial least-squares (SiPLS) algorithm. The root mean square errors of prediction of the -borneol and total flavone models were 0.0779 and 2.2694 mg/g, with R² of 0.9069 and 0.8013, respectively. A discriminant model to determine the geographical origin of (Guizhou and Hainan) was also established using a partial least squares discriminant analysis method with an optimum pretreatment method. The prediction accuracy rate of the model was 100%. NIR spectroscopy can be used as a reliable and environmentally friendly method to determine the API and the origin of different samples.

Bone mechanical function is determined by multiple factors, some of which are still being elucidated. Here, we present a multivariate analysis of the role of bone tissue composition in the proximal femur stiffness of cadaver bones (n = 12, age 44-93). Stiffness was assessed by testing under loading conditions simulating a sideways fall onto the hip.

Near-infrared (NIR) controlled drug delivery systems have drawn a lot of attention throughout the past few decades due to the deep penetration depth and comparatively minor side effects of the stimulus. In this study, we introduce an innovative approach for gastric cancer treatment by combining photothermal infrared-sensitive gold nanorods (AuNRs) with a conjugated microporous polymer (CMP) to create a drug delivery system tailored for transporting the cytostatic drug 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). CMPs are fully conjugated networks with high internal surface areas that can be precisely tailored to the adsorption and transport of active compounds through the right choice of chemical functionalities.

We demonstrate a high-performance ultrafast broadband time-resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) system based on the transient grating photoluminescence spectroscopy (TGPLS) technique. The core of the system is a Kerr effect-induced transient grating (TG) optical gate driven by high repetition rate ultrashort laser pulses at 1030 nm with micro-Joule pulse energy. Satisfying the demands of spectroscopy applications, the setup achieves high sensitivity, rapid data acquisition, ultrafast time resolution, and a wide spectral window from ultraviolet to near-infrared.

Hydrogen spillover, particularly when involving "interparticle" hydrogen spillover, offers a unique opportunity to enhance catalytic efficiency by remote activation of surface acidity. Building on this concept, this study aims to investigate physically mixed alumina-supported platinum nanoparticles (Pt/AlO) and zirconia-supported tungsten oxide (WO/ZrO) in promoting the direct synthesis of cumene from benzene and propane at 300 °C. The reaction with Pt/AlO alone afforded propylene as the only product, indicating the successive reaction route of Pt-catalyzed dehydrogenation of propane, followed by acid-catalyzed alkylation.

Significance: In the last years, time-resolved near-infrared spectroscopy (TD-NIRS) has gained increasing interest as a tool for studying tissue spectroscopy with commercial devices. Although it provides much more information than its continuous wave counterpart, accurate models interpreting the measured raw data in real time are still lacking.
Aim: We introduce an analytical model that can be integrated and used in TD-NIRS data processing software and toolkits in real time.
