is a causative agent of anemia, cat scratch disease, bacillary angiomatosis, recurrent fever, hepatitis, endocarditis, chronic lymphadenopathy, joint and neurological disorders. are intra-erythrocytic bacteria. The goal of this study was to visualize the invasion into enucleated human red blood cells in real time using bacterium endogenous fluorescence. We took advantage of the unique fluorescence emission spectral profile of the bacteria. We used a linear unmixing approach to separate the fluorescence emission spectra of human erythrocytes from native when excited at 488nm. Human blood samples were inoculated with and incubated for 60 hours. 3-D live images were captured at select intervals using multi-photon laser scanning microscopy. Uninfected blood samples were also analyzed. This study revealed bacteria entering mature erythrocytes over a 60 hour time period.

Purpose Of Review: To outline the latest discoveries regarding the utility and reliability of serum biomarkers in idiopathic recurrent acute pericarditis (IRAP), considering recent findings on its pathogenesis. The study highlights the predictive role of these biomarkers in potential short- (cardiac tamponade, recurrences) and long-term complications (constrictive pericarditis, death).
Recent Findings: The pathogenesis of pericarditis has been better defined in recent years, focusing on the autoinflammatory pathway.

Dendrimers are a wide range of nanoparticles with desirable properties that can be used in many areas of medicine. However, little is known about their potential use in wound healing. This study examined the properties of phosphorus dendrimers that were built on a cyclotriphosphazene core and pyrrolidinium (DPP) or piperidinium (DPH) terminated groups, to be used as potential factors that support wound healing ().

: Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease induced by bacteria in dental plaque that can activate the host's immune-inflammatory response and invade the bloodstream. We hypothesized that a higher periodontal inflamed surface area (PISA) is associated with higher levels of inflammatory biomarkers, lower levels of antioxidants, and mitochondrial DNA copy number (mtDNAcn). : Using periodontal parameters, we calculated the PISA score, measured the levels of inflammatory biomarkers and antioxidants in the serum, and took buccal swabs for mtDNA and nuclear DNA (nDNA) extraction.

Background/objectives: Despite being widely promoted, protein supplementation's overall effectiveness during demanding basketball schedules remains unclear. This study investigated whether increased protein intake can accelerate recovery of muscle function during a 6-day congested basketball microcycle consisting of three consecutive games while accounting for the impact of playing time.
Methods: In a randomized, two-trial, cross-over, double-blind repeated measures design, eighteen male basketball players were assigned to a high (High PT) or a moderate (Mod PT) playing time group and participated in two trials, receiving daily either milk protein (PRO trial) or an isoenergetic amount of carbohydrates.

The interplay between the cytokine network and antipsychotic treatment in schizophrenia remains poorly understood. This study aimed to investigate the impact of psychotropic medications on serum levels of IFN-γ, IL-4, TGF-β1, IL-17, and BAFF, and to explore their relationship with psychopathological features. We recruited 63 patients diagnosed with schizophrenia in the acute phase, all of whom were either drug-naïve or had been drug-free for at least three months.
