A new circumscription and a total of six microendemic species, four of them new to science, are herein presented for , based on field and herbaria studies, and cultivated material. We provide an identification key to the species and a distribution map, description, comments, conservation assessment, and illustration for each species. Also, we present an emended key to the genera of subtribe Dichorisandrinae, and comments on the morphology and systematics of the subtribe.

The tropical Andes are known as a biodiversity hotspot with the highest percentage of endemic plants and vertebrates in the world. The Andean genera Leptopeltus Bernhauer and Leptopeltoides Chani-Posse & Asenjo contain six and four species respectively, most of which occur in the Andean highlands near 3000 m. Here, we describe two new species of the subtribe Philonthina, recently discovered in the northern Peruvian Andes: Leptopeltus dieguezi sp.

We describe and compare the exochorion of four species currently recognized as belonging to the nymphalid tribe Coeini: Pycina zamba zelis, Historis a. acheronta, Smyrna karwinskii, and Tigridia acesta latifascia, based on specimens collected in the field and rehydrated specimens from entomological collections. We use a staining technique and scanning electron microscopy to observe and describe the main exochorionic characters as ridges, prebasal modifications, and microstructure.
