In this case, a physician rejects a patient's concerns that tainted water is harming the patient and her community. Stereotypes and biases regarding socioeconomic class and race/ethnicity, constraining diagnostic frameworks, and fixed first impressions could skew the physician's judgment. This paper narratively illustrates how cultivating humility could help the physician truly hear the patient's suggestions. The discussion builds on the multifaceted concept of cultural humility as a lifelong journey that addresses not only stereotypes and biases but also power inequalities and community inequities. Insurgent multiculturalism is a complementary concept. Through epistemic humility-which includes both intellectual and emotional components-and admitting uncertainty, physicians can enhance patients' and families' epistemic authority and health agency.

As such, pediatric providers are increasingly on the frontline of vaccine conversations with their patients, families, colleagues, and communities. To respond effectively to vaccine hesitancy, providers should employ professionalism in all aspects of their practice, including commitment to learning and growth, cultural awareness and humility, ethical responsibility to self and others, oral communication, reliability and dependability, teamwork, critical thinking and quantitative reasoning, and the engagement in public discourse around vaccines.

Background: While the Liaison Committee on Medical Education emphasizes the teaching of cultural competence in medical education, the concept of cultural humility, focusing on self-reflection and lifelong learning, has been proposed as a more effective approach. Although there have been numerous discussions on both topics, understanding how faculty in clinical settings help students develop cultural humility skills remains limited.
Objective: Our multimethod study utilized a survey and semi-structured interviews to identify strategies that faculty at one institution use to help students develop cultural humility skills.
