Objective: The objective of this study was to examine the correlation between the presence of primary iris-ciliary cysts and the intraocular pressure.
Patients And Methods: Sixty patients with short-sightedness undergoing routine examination for laser vision correction in our hospital in 2003 were enrolled. Patients with known high intraocular pressure and risk of glaucoma were excluded from the study. A total of 119 eyes were examined by the Ultrasound Biomicroscope (UBM), and the presence of the primary iris-ciliary cysts was confirmed. Intraocular pressure was measured by using a blowing tonometer for each eye in triplicate. Through Pentacam correction of intraocular pressure using the Ehlers formula, the influence of the thickness of central cornea on intraocular pressure was excluded.
Results: Among all participants, 62 eyes (52.1%) were with high myopia, 57 eyes (47.9%) with low and moderate myopia, 27 eyes (22.7%) with single cyst, 20 eyes (16.8%) with multiple cysts, and 72 eyes (60.5%) were free from cysts. Moreover, the intraocular pressure was found within the normal range in 72 eyes (60.5%), and abnormally high in 47 eyes (39.5%).
Conclusions: Our results showed that the presence of primary iris-ciliary cysts and the intraocular pressure were positively correlated, with a correlation coefficient of 0.235 (p = 0.01). These findings may prove useful for prediction and screening of high intraocular pressure.

This case study details a 41-year-old male patient with Freeman-Sheldon syndrome (FSS) who presented with ocular hypertension. The intraocular pressure (IOP) in his right eye progressively increased over time, leading to visual field loss, culminating in a diagnosis of juvenile-onset open-angle glaucoma (JOAG). Despite conventional medical therapies, adequate IOP control was not achieved, necessitating his referral to Nagoya City University Hospital.

Persistent hypotony following Tanito microhook trabeculotomy (TMH) is rare but may occur due to the development of cyclodialysis clefts. We report a case of a Japanese man in his 40s who developed persistent hypotony and hypotony maculopathy after TMH in the left eye. Fourteen months after the surgery, the patient was referred to our institution due to prolonged hypotony that remained undiagnosed and untreated despite evaluations with gonioscopy and anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) at the referring clinic.

Background: Central retinal vein occlusion and cilioretinal artery occlusion are rare but serious ocular conditions that can lead to significant visual impairment. While few cases of central retinal vein occlusion and cilioretinal artery occlusion have been individually reported, concurrent occlusion of both vessels is extremely rare, particularly in younger patients without traditional vascular risk factors. We present the first reported case of simultaneous central retinal vein occlusion and cilioretinal artery occlusion in a young female patient associated with short-term use of progestin-only oral contraceptives (OCPs).

Objectives: To evaluate the effects of short-acting cycloplegic agents, tropicamide and compound tropicamide, on ocular biological parameters and choroid thickness.
Methods: In this study, seventy pediatric subjects aged 6 to 13 years were randomly assigned to two groups: the tropicamide group and compound tropicamide group. Ocular biological parameters and choroidal thickness (CT) and subfoveal choroid thickness (SFCT) were measured in both groups and were retested 40 min after drug administration.
Rationale: Congenital ectropion uveae (CEU) is a rare, nonprogressive anomaly characterized by the proliferation of the iris pigment epithelium on the anterior surface of the iris, often associated with glaucoma. Due to its rarity and complexity, standardized glaucoma surgical management is limited. To our knowledge, the application of glaucoma drainage devices in CEU is rarely documented.
