A novel, yet simple, airborne microplastic (MP) sampling approach using global pollen monitoring equipment was applied to identify, characterise and quantify outdoor airborne MPs for the first time. Modification of Burkard spore trap tape adhesive provided particle capture and facilitated downstream spectroscopy analysis. 36 polymer types were identified from a total of 21 days sampling using Burkard spore traps at two locations (United Kingdom and South Africa).

Jiaxing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Jiaxing, Zhejiang 314050, China.

Objective: To examine the effect of ground cage use on spread, so as to provide insights into precision snail control.

Methods: Twenty ground cages that were frequently used to capture rice field eels were purchased, including 11 packaging tape-made cages, 7 plastic cages and 2 nylon rope-made cages. The eel-capturing activity was mimicked, and 20 ground cages were assigned in settings with relatively high (1.

Although microsuture neurorrhaphy is the accepted clinical standard treatment for severed peripheral nerves, this technique requires microsurgical proficiency and still often fails to provide adequate nerve approximation for effective regeneration. Entubulation utilizing commercially available conduits may enhance the technical quality of the nerve coaptation and potentially provide a proregenerative microenvironment, but still requires precise suture placement. We developed a sutureless nerve coaptation device, Nerve Tape, that utilizes Nitinol microhooks embedded within a porcine small intestinal submucosa backing.

A commercial high-resolution X-ray computed tomography (CT) was utilized for non-destructive analysis of single fibers. The micro-CT apparatus was employed because it is applicable to both colored and colorless fibers. A sample preparation using adhesive sheets was demonstrated, and the method is similar to typical tape-lift sample collection method in crime cases.

Self-traction Method for Uncinate Process Dissection During Laparoscopic Pancreaticoduodenectomy.

J Gastrointest Surg

July 2022

Division of Hepatobiliary and Pancreas, Department of Surgery, CHA Bundang Medical Center, CHA University, Cancer Research Building #524, 59 Yatap-ro, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, 13496, South Korea.

Background: Dissection of the uncinate process is one of the most challenging procedures in laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy and is also oncologically important to secure the retroperitoneal resection margin. In this study, we introduced a traction method that could provide stable lateral traction of the uncinate process to elevate it to allow better visualization of the retroperitoneal resection margin between the uncinate process and the superior mesenteric artery.

Methods: The pancreatic head and duodenal unit were encircled using a 25-cm-long nylon tape and an elastic rubber band was used to tract it.
