During the late 1940s and 1950s, a pseudo-scientific concept based on Marxist-Leninist ideology became internationally known as 'Lysenkoism'. Lysenkoism was a neo-Lamarckian idea, claiming that in crop plants, such as wheat, environmental influences are heritable via all cells of the organism. Lysenkoism was applied to agriculture during the Stalin era with disastrous consequences. Despite the triumphs of modern genetics, and the disproval of Lysenkoism, recent years have seen a 're-thinking' of this doctrine in Russia. This disturbing pro-Lysenko movement, which is accompanied by a growing sympathy for Stalin, claims to have its scientific roots in modern epigenetics, specifically the heritability of variation by mechanisms other than changes in DNA sequence. Based on recent research on the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana, its is clear that Lysenkoism has nothing to do with heritable 'epigenetic' modifications. Biologists should defend science against ideological and political interferences.

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) continue to progress against the background of an increase in risk factors and the emergence of new ones, such as postcovid syndrome. Due in part to this influence, the progression of the atherosclerotic process and deterministic cardiovascular diseases is observed. In this regard, the aggravation of NCDs remains alarming against the background of the influence of six leading risk factors «25 × 25».

Microplastics, interacting with drought stress, have become threat to crops by altering soil environment. Currently, the effect of combined microplastic and drought stress on crop growth remain poorly understood. In this work, the mechanism of multi-stress responses was investigated under the exposure of polvinylchloride microplastic (PV) and drought (D) individually and in combination (DPV) on rice varieties Hanyou73 and Q280 through proteomics and metabolomic analysis.

In recent decades, plants enduring abiotic stresses such as drought and chemical stresses. Currently, the mechanism of combined antibiotic and drought stress response and its impact on crop growth and food security remains poorly understood. Here, the mechanism of stress responses under the exposure of norfloxacin (NF) and drought (D) individually and in combination (DNF) were explored on rice (Oryza sativa) cultivar Hanyou73 through proteomics and metabolomic analysis.
