This paper evaluated fluoride (F) pollution in drinking groundwater sources, which causes severe fluorosis and other human health concerns in Swabi, Pakistan. We determined F concentration, prevalence, enrichment, distribution, and health hazards from water ingestion in Swabi, Pakistan. Therefore, 126 groundwater and 18 surface water samples were collected to analyze F and other geochemical tracers to understand groundwater enrichment and F mobilization in aquatic systems.

Fluoride, a naturally occurring element found in water, soil, food, and atmospheric precipitation, can lead to fluorosis and various health issues when consumed excessively. However, the mechanism of fluorosis is still under investigation. This study utilizes Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism to investigate the effects of fluoride exposure on biological systems and to explore the mechanisms by which curcumin mitigates fluoride-induced toxicity.

Fluorosis, a debilitating disease, causes dental mottling and bone deformities among other adverse health effects. The current epidemiological study focused on the prevalence and risk factors of fluorosis in the fluoride endemic village, Dongargaon, Maharashtra, India. The clinical diagnosis of subjects showed 96.

Geogenic fluorine-contaminated groundwater (F >1 mg/L) prevails in cold Mollisol regions of the world. Seasonal variation of F concentration in groundwater likely renders multiple pathways of toxic-level F exposure, posing unrecognized health risk to many economically challenged communities. Herein, different types of samples within the groundwater-soil-crop-human hair network were collected from the Mollisol regions of northeastern China and assessed by joint approach of medical geochemical assay, hydrogeochemical modeling, and health risk indexation.
