Synthesis and characterization of isostructural annulated actinocenes.

An isostructural series of four annulated actinocene complexes, M(hdcCOT) (M = Th, U, Np, Pu), is reported. The syntheses proceed through a trivalent starting material when M = U, Np, Pu with subsequent oxidation or, in the case of M = Th, directly from ThCl(DME). X-ray crystallography shows that each actinocene has molecular point symmetry in the solid state, with the metal atoms symmetrically bonded to two 10π-aromatic [8]annulene dianion rings.

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is an uncommon neurological condition characterized by reversible subcortical vasogenic edema that primarily affects the posterior areas of the brain. Subcortical vasogenic edema resulting from endothelial injury and hypertension is the pathogenesis. Background: Repair of the regurgitant bicuspid aortic valve is an attractive alternative to valve replacement. Although good long-term outcomes have been reported, postoperative aortic stenosis remains a major late cause of repair failure in bicuspid aortic valves. Sinus plication is effective for creating a more symmetrical commissural angle, leading to a decrease in the mean transvalvular pressure gradient.
