Objective: Demonstrate the use of wide-field optical fluorescence as an adjunctive examination in a clinical routine to oral diagnosis.
Background Data: Use of wide-field optical fluorescence in the oral cavity has been restricted to topics related to the detection and diagnosis of oral cancer.
Materials And Methods: In a regular medical appointment, a 58-year-old female patient, without any complaint or oral symptom, underwent the complementary examination by wide-field optical fluorescence. A device with high-power light-emitting diode emitting light centered at a wavelength of (400 ± 10) nm and maximum irradiance of (0.040 ± 0.008) W/cm was used for fluorescence visualization.
Results: We report the location of a firearm projectile, intraosseous, in the maxillary tuberosity using wide-field optical fluorescence.
Conclusions: It is evidenced that wide-field optical fluorescence, within a clinical routine, can provide relevant images and data, with an immediate result, without the use of ionizing radiation, enabling an efficient oral diagnosis.

Imaging flow cytometry allows image-activated cell sorting (IACS) with enhanced feature dimensions in cellular morphology, structure, and composition. However, existing IACS frameworks suffer from the challenges of 3D information loss and processing latency dilemma in real-time sorting operation. Herein, we establish a neuromorphic-enabled video-activated cell sorter (NEVACS) framework, designed to achieve high-dimensional spatiotemporal characterization content alongside high-throughput sorting of particles in wide field of view.

Three-dimensional structured illumination microscopy (3D-SIM) provides excellent optical sectioning and doubles the resolution in all dimensions compared with wide-field microscopy. However, its much lower axial resolution results in blurred fine details in that direction and overall image distortion. Here we present 4Pi-SIM, a substantial revamp of IS that synergizes 3D-SIM with interferometric microscopy to achieve isotropic optical resolution through interference in both the illumination and detection wavefronts.

Significance: Stroke is the leading cause of chronic disability in the United States. How stroke size affects post-stroke repair and recovery is poorly understood.
Aim: We aim to investigate the effects of stroke size on early repair patterns and determine how early changes in neuronal circuits and networks predict functional outcomes after stroke.

We investigated the mechanism of action of atropine in myopia control by examining its effect on choroidal hemodynamics. Blood flow was evaluated using indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence and molecular variation during the development of form-deprivation myopia (FDM) and atropine treatment in guinea pigs. Guinea pigs were divided randomly into the normal control (NC), FDM, and FDM + 1% atropine (ATR) groups, and evaluated by spherical equivalent refractive error (SE) and axial length (AL).

Objective: Describe the proportion of patients with wide-field fluorescein angiographic (WFFA) findings in patients with active anterior scleritis.
Methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study of the WFFA findings of patients with active anterior scleritis including nodular, diffuse, or necrotizing involvement was performed. Studies were performed with the Heidelberg Spectralis module (102º).
