Background: Overdoses of Panadol (APAP) result in hepatic and renal toxicity. Up till now, there is no effective drug for APAP-enhanced nephrotoxicity. This work aims to explore the protective effects of N-acetylcysteine, Thymoquinone (THQ), Curcumin (CUR) and α-Lipoic acid (LA) either alone or in combination against APAP nephrotoxicity, focused on modulation of Bax/Bcl2 pathway.
Methods: APAP was administrated at a single dose then treated with the fore mentioned antioxidants.
Results: APAP administration increased serum creatinine, urea, uric acid, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) levels compared to control group. There is a marked depletion of reduced glutathione (GSH) levels and superoxide dismutase activity (SOD), Bax level was overexpressed, whereas Bcl2 was downregulated in renal tissue. Histopathological examination of the kidney tissue supported these biochemical findings. Treatment with the fore mentioned anti-oxidants ameliorated most of the previous evaluated parameters and returned the kidney nearly to its normal architecture.
Conclusion: The expression of Bax and Bcl2 is considered one of the mechanisms underlying APAP-induced nephrotoxicity. The administration of THQ along with CUR could be a promising antidote for APAP renal damage through their antioxidant potential.

Introduction: There is no generalised consensus regarding perioperative prophylaxis of venous thromboembolism (VTE), either on using or timing it in patients undergoing spine surgery. VTE is a current concern because, even though being an uncommon event, it can cause serious complications. The aim of the present study is to propose guidelines for the prevention of thrombotic events in posterior spinal surgery, either as deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary thromboembolism.

Nowadays, when regenerable alternative green sources are attracting more caution under sustainability targets, kapok and coconut fibers, known as natural fibers, have come to the fore as a very significant raw material source. In this experimental study, compressive strength, thermal insulation, and pore structure characteristics of kapok fiber (KP)- and coconut fiber (CC)-incorporated concrete samples under different curing conditions were analyzed. For that purpose, randomly distributed fiber-incorporated concrete mixtures containing 0%, 0.

Obstetric violence is an urgent global problem. Recently, several studies have appeared on obstetric violence in the Netherlands, indicating that it is a more widespread phenomenon in Dutch maternity care than commonly thought. At the same time, there has been very little public outrage over these studies.

Faced with growing ecological problems, governments around the world are increasingly focusing on improving ecology and the environment. The topic of urban green transformation has attracted a great deal of research. However, not much of it has focused on the effectiveness of government environmental auditing, especially from the perspective of its role in sustainable governance.
