The electrooxidation of N-acetylcysteine (N-AC) was studied by a novel Ni(II) complex modified ZrO nanoparticle carbon paste electrode [Ni(II)/ZrO/NPs/CPE] using voltammetric methods. The results showed that Ni(II)/ZrO/NPs/CPE had high electrocatalytic activity for the electrooxidation of N-AC in aqueous buffer solution (pH = 7.0). The electrocatalytic oxidation peak currents increase linearly with N-AC concentrations over the concentration ranges of 0.05-600μM using square wave voltammetric methods. The detection limit for N-AC was equal to 0.009μM. The catalytic reaction rate constant, k, was calculated (7.01 × 10 M s) using the chronoamperometry method. Finally, Ni(II)/ZrO/NPs/CPE was also examined as an ultrasensitive electrochemical sensor for the determination of N-AC in real samples such as tablet and urine.

Industrial wastewater containing heavy metal ions presents serious economic risk to the environment. In this study, a novel compound of aminated cellulose with jeffamine EDR148 was prepared to improve cellulose's adsorptive behavior towards metal ions. This study undertook a straightforward and efficient cellulose modification through homogeneous chlorination in N,N'-butylmethylimidazolium chloride to produce 6-deoxychlorocellulose (Cell-Cl), followed by a reaction with jeffamine EDR148 and ultimately resulting in the formation of aminated cellulose (Cell-Jef148).

A novel nanocomposite magnetic hydrogel was synthesized based on κ-carrageenan, acrylic acid, and activated carbon as an absorbent for removing heavy metal ions from aqueous solution. FT-IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and vibration sample magnetometer (VSM) were employed to confirm the structure of the nanocomposite hydrogels. The effects of contact time, pH, particle size, temperature, and metal ion concentration on the metal ion adsorption were investigated.

Amide compounds are widely present in drug molecules and natural products, which can be synthesized by acid-amine condensation. It is urgent to design new photocatalysts for achieving both nitroaromatic reduction and C-H oxidation to obtain raw materials, carboxylic acids, and aromatic amines. Herein, a novel isopolymolybdate-incorporated photoactive metal-organic framework, -TPT, was constructed by combining the oxidation catalyst [MoO], Ni(II) cation, and photosensitive ligand 2,4,6-tri(4-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine (TPT).

A novel dispersive solid phase microextraction (dSP-ME) technique using activated carbon cloth (ACC) and layered double hydroxide (LDH) has been developed for enriching and extracting Pb(II) and Ni(II). The ACC@MnCoAl-LDH nanosorbent, has proven with high surface area, superior extraction dynamics and efficiency, compared to traditional sorbents. Structural features of the new ACC@MnCoAl-LDH sorbent were also characterized.

N-termini Cyano group (CN) in metal hexacyanoferrates (MHCF) have been identified as specific-affinity sites for palladium (Pd), but C-termini CN do not effectively serve as Pd adsorption sites due to their stronger bonds with the metal ligands (M), which reduces the activity and density of CN. Herein, the optimization of directional coordination of cyano group C/N-termini by modulating the electronic structure of the M (Fe, Co, and Ni) in MHCF was investigated to reinforce the Pd recovery. Spectroscopic analyses and DFT calculations revealed that NiHCF exhibited N-site mono-coordination, whereas CoHCF displayed C-site mono-coordination due to spin-exchange interactions, leading to the strengthened N-Co bonds and weakened Fe-C bonds.
