Autoreactive antibodies (AAB) are currently being investigated as causative or aggravating factors during post-COVID. In this study we analyze the effect of immunoadsorption therapy on symptom improvement and the relationship with immunological parameters in post-COVID patients exhibiting symptoms of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) induced or aggravated by an SARS-CoV-2 infection. This observational study includes 12 post-COVID patients exhibiting a predominance of ME/CFS symptoms alongside increased concentrations of autonomic nervous system receptors (ANSR) autoantibodies and neurological impairments.

Thromboelastography may assess the effect of anticoagulation reversal in intracranial hemorrhage.

Article Synopsis
  • Intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) is a serious risk for patients on oral anticoagulants, and there's a need for biomarkers to evaluate the effectiveness of reversal agents like activated prothrombin complex concentrate (aPCC).
  • A study was conducted in an emergency department with adult patients experiencing factor Xa inhibitor-related ICH to assess changes in thromboelastography (TEG) following aPCC reversal.
  • Results showed a significant decrease in TEG R-time shortly after aPCC administration, but it returned to baseline levels by 12 and 24 hours, suggesting TEG R-time could be a valuable biomarker to monitor anticoagulation effects in these patients.

The latent viral reservoir remains the major barrier to HIV cure, placing the burden of strict adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART) on people living with HIV to prevent recrudescence of viremia. For infants with perinatally acquired HIV, adherence is anticipated to be a lifelong need. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that administration of ART and viral Envelope-specific rhesus-derived IgG1 monoclonal antibodies (RhmAbs) with or without the IL-15 superagonist N-803 early in infection would limit viral reservoir establishment in SIV-infected infant rhesus macaques.

Food production does more damage to wild species than any other sector of human activity, yet how best to limit its growing impact is greatly contested. Reviewing progress to date in interventions that encourage less damaging diets or cut food loss and waste, we conclude that both are essential but far from sufficient. In terms of production, field studies from five continents quantifying the population-level impacts of land sharing, land sparing, intermediate and mixed approaches for almost 2000 individually assessed species show that implementing high-yield farming to spare natural habitats consistently outperforms land sharing, particularly for species of highest conservation concern.
