Lymphatic complications are rare, but well-known phenomena, and have been described by many researchers. However, many diagnoses of lymphatic complications are found confusing due to different definition. A literature search in Pubmed was performed for studies postoperative lympatic complications. These complications divided into two parts: lymphatic leakage and lymphatic stasis. This review is about lymphatic leakage, especially, postoperative lymphatic leakage due to the injury of lymphatic channels in surgical procedures. According to polytrophic consequences, many types of postoperative lymphatic leakage have been presented, including lymph ascites, lymphocele, lymphorrhea, lymphatic fistula, chylous ascites, chylothorax, chyloretroperitoneum and chylorrhea. In this review, we focus on the definition, incidence and treatment about most of these forms of lymphatic complications to depict a comprehensive view of postoperative lymphatic leakage. We hold the idea that the method of treatment should be individual and personal according to manifestation and tolerance of patient. Meanwhile, conservative treatment is suitable and should be considered first.

This is a novel case of idiopathic chylopericardium and chylothorax in a young male who had no significant medical history. He first presented with dyspnea due to idiopathic chylopericardium, which was refractory to medical and surgical treatments, including a medium-chain triglyceride diet, octreotide, and video-assisted pericardial window. The chylopericardium persisted and progressed to concomitant left-sided chylothorax.

Background: Gorham-Stout disease (GSD) is a rare disease characterized by osteolysis and lymphatic malformations. GSD involving the spine is exceptionally rare and lacks a standard cure. The aim of this article was to report a case of GSD with scoliosis treated via corrective surgery and medication.

This study aimed to compare postoperative lymphatic leakage between the polymer ligation clip and vessel sealer, and evaluated the costs associated with the former. Methods The study enrolled patients who underwent RARP with PLND at our institution between April 2018 and March 2023 and were treated with a vessel sealer (LigaSure Blunt Tip 44 NC; Medtronic, Dublin, Ireland) until September 2021, and Hem-o-lok polymer ligation clips(Teleflex, Wayne, PA, USA) thereafter.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the therapeutic effectiveness of totally endoscopic thyroidectomy via the completely submental tri-hole approach and transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy without insufflation.
Methods: A total of 60 patients with thyroid tumors who were admitted to Panyu College Affiliated Hospital from August 2022 to August 2023 were collected in this study. The patients were divided into two groups, the transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy group (20 cases) and the totally endoscopic thyroidectomy via the completely submental tri-hole approach group (40 cases).

Extra-adrenal, functional paraganglioma, if not medically controlled, requires early surgical resection. This can often be challenging when found in a retroperitoneal location, where resections are prone to lymphatic disruption and chyle leaks. Chylous ascites carry a significant risk of protein and caloric malnutrition, dehydration, and even mortality given the nutrient-rich characteristic of lost lymphatic fluid.
