Background: Despite the clinical benefits over nonoperative treatment or meniscectomy, the clinical outcomes of surgical repair for medial meniscus posterior root tear (MMRT) remain suboptimal, which may be attributed to the insufficient restoration of meniscal hoop tension during surgery.
Purpose: To analyze the clinical outcomes of surgical repair of MMRT based on the appearance of the meniscal tension observed immediately after surgery.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess the short-term clinical efficacy of combining posterior meniscal root repair with meniscal centralization technology in the treatment of medial meniscus posterior root tears (MMPRTs) and notable meniscus extrusion.
Methods: In this retrospective analysis, patients aged 43-76 years with only chronic posterior root tears of the medial meniscus and notable extrusion were followed up for 12-14 months.
Inclusion Criteria: (1) persistent medial knee joint pain affecting daily life, presenting with joint space tenderness; (2) showing the ineffectiveness of conservative treatment for a minimum of 3 months; conservative treatment includes non-invasive methods such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, physical therapy and massage, but does not include intra-articular injections.

Background: Fellowship-trained orthopaedic oncologists in the US military provide routine clinical care and also must maintain readiness to provide combat casualty care. However, low oncologic procedure volume may hinder the ability of these surgeons to maintain relevant surgical expertise. Other low-volume specialties within the Military Health System (MHS) have established partnerships with neighboring civilian centers to increase procedure volume, but the need for similar partnerships for orthopaedic oncologists has not been examined.

In recent years, degenerative meniscal lesions have received increasing attention as an etiologic factor of knee osteoarthritis. Among various relevant factors, medial meniscal extrusion has been shown to be an independent predictor of the onset and progression of knee osteoarthritis. Therefore, surgical reduction of the extruded medial meniscus to restore meniscal function is key to preventing osteoarthritis of the knee.

Background: In addition to the integrity of the meniscal hoop function, both the anterior and posterior meniscus roots as well as the meniscotibial and meniscofemoral ligaments are crucial in restraining meniscal extrusion. However, the interaction and load sharing between the roots and these peripheral attachments (PAs) are not known.
Purposes: To investigate the influence of an insufficiency of the PAs on the forces acting on a posterior medial meniscus root repair (PMMRR) in both neutral and varus alignment and to explore whether meniscal centralization reduces these forces.
