Cadmium is a natural element found in the earth's crust; it is usually associated with other metals, but due to the impacts caused by human activity, its concentration has increased in the aquatic environment. This metal may damage aquatic animal reproduction, decreasing the rate of fertilization of organisms such as fish. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the toxicity of different concentrations of cadmium (0 (control), 0.5, 5, and 10 μg/L) using sperm cells of model organism zebrafish, . Structural parameters, including integrity and fluidity of the plasma membrane, concentration of oxygen species, mitochondrial function and DNA fragmentation were measured by flow cytometry. The following sperm movement parameters were also measured using the computer assisted sperm analysis (CASA) system: motility, time of motility, curvilinear velocity, average path velocity and straight line velocity in μm/s. Significant effects were observed on path speed, straight speed, curvilinear velocity, motility time, progressive and total motility, and plasma and DNA integrity. The results showed that cadmium can negatively affect some reproductive parameters in , which may reduce the fertility rate of these animals.

Spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) form haploid gametes through the precisely regulated process of spermatogenesis. Within the testis, SSCs undergo self-renewal through mitosis, differentiation, and then enter meiosis to generate mature spermatids. This study utilized single-cell RNA sequencing on 26,888 testicular cells obtained from five Holstein bull testes, revealing the presence of five distinct germ cell types and eight somatic cell types in cattle testes.

About one in six couples experience fertility problems, and male infertility accounts for about half of these cases. Spermatogenesis originates from a small pool of spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs), which are of interest for the treatment of infertility but remain poorly characterised in humans. Using multiparametric spectral flow cytometric analysis with a 16-colours (16-C) panel of cell markers, we identify novel markers of SSCs and provide insights into unravelling and resolving the heterogeneity of the human spermatogonial cells.

The aim of this work is to study the effect of adding hydroxy derivatives of chalcones to the basic cryomedium on the ability of sterlet sperm to utilize superoxide and hydrogen peroxide, the intensity of lipid peroxidation of male fish germ cells, and their viability both before cryopreservation and after 3 days of freezing at liquid nitrogen temperature. The ability of phenolic derivatives of chalcones to increase the superoxide dismutase and catalase activities of sterlet sperm and to reduce the intensity of lipid peroxidation has been established. The antioxidant activity of the derivatives exceeds the effect of Trolox, which inhibits the functioning of the enzyme component of the antioxidant protection of fish sperm and promotes lipid peroxidation of fish sperm before cryopreservation.

This review covers the latest developments on the regulation of early seed development by phytohormones. The development of seeds in flowering plants starts with the fertilization of the maternal gametes by two paternal sperm cells. This leads to the formation of two products, embryo and endosperm, which are surrounded by a tissue of maternal sporophytic origin, called the seed coat.

Objective: Genotoxicity assays include micronucleus test, comet assay, and malformed sperm head used to investigate the protective potential of quercetin and quercetin nanoparticles against imidacloprid-induced genotoxicity in Swiss albino mice.
Method: The ionic gelation procedure was used to synthesize the quercetin nanoparticles and characterized for their hydrodynamic diameter, zeta potential, SEM, TEM, FT-IR, and encapsulation efficiency. Total 48 mice were taken in eight groups with six animals in each group.
