Background: Prior research shows that caregiving for people living with dementia (PLWD) varies with cultural, institutional, and social structural context, but less is known about the role of context in dementias of different etiologies. We compared experiences of caregiving in frontal-temporal dementia (FTD) versus non-FTD dementias using community-based comparative ethnography. We expected to find differences in caring for people living with FTD (PLWFTD) versus people living with other dementias (PLWOD).

Background: Mealtimes are a fundamental part of life; eating and drinking well is vital for health well-being. People living with dementia are at increased risk of eating and drinking difficulties, and may experience difficulties at mealtimes due to the cognitive component of this condition. Such difficulties are prevalent in care homes, where people living with dementia are often dependent on carers at mealtimes.

Background: Due to the high prevalence of depressive symptoms and dementia in older Americans (≥65 years), we trained unpaid family caregivers in an evidence-based life review depression intervention virtually via Zoom and produced positive outcomes. The objective of this study was to examine the feasibility of training caregivers via online video and delivering the intervention at home.
Method: We recruited caregiver-care recipient dyads nationwide during the COVID-19 pandemic (N = 20 dyads).

Background: Given the context of globalization, epidemiological and health disparities create socio-cultural barriers to specialized and appropriate care for people living with dementia in non-Western countries, particularly in Spain, where Moroccan migrants maintain their position as the largest registered foreign community. We aimed to map cultural, clinical, and linguistic challenges and facilitators of dementia assessment and care for this population.
Methods: We investigated articles published in English, Spanish, and Arabic in different medical, allied health, social, and human sciences databases that addressed assessment and care for Moroccan migrants with dementia (MMWD) and their caregivers in Spain.

Background: Occupational therapists (OTs) play a crucial role in rehabilitation, aiming to improve the lives of individuals with sensory impairment and an increased risk of cognitive decline. Despite being responsible for cognitive screenings on occasion, they have expressed limited confidence in performing these with their clients with visual and/or hearing impairments (VI/HI). To improve this situation, OTs should gain expertise in collaborative sensory rehabilitation.
