In this study we have characterized the learning curve of percutaneous nephrolithotomy procedures over 301 cases for six years. Different surrogate parameters of clinical expertise have been used, such as dose area product, total procedure time, fluoroscopy time and personal equivalent doses. In addition, two different endourologists have been monitored; one of whom was subjected to a specific Radiation Protection training (ICRP 85). Eye lens dose is estimated from thermoluminescent dosimeters. Significant differences are observed between both endourologists, especially in the fluoroscopy time. Finally, both entrance skin dose and effective doses of patients have been determined.

Objective: To comprehensively investigate the predictive value of thyroid hormone sensitivity parameters for cervical lymph node metastasis in patients diagnosed with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) undergoing total thyroidectomy and neck lymph node dissection.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted involving patients diagnosed with DTC and evaluated for cervical lymph node metastasis. Relevant demographic, tumour, lymph node and thyroid hormone sensitivity parameter data were extracted from medical records and laboratory reports.

Hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) are serious complication for patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS), often resulting in poor functional outcomes. However, no existing model can specifically predict HAI in AIS patients. Therefore, we employed the Gradient Boosting matching learning algorithm to establish predictive models for HAI occurrence in AIS patients and poor 30-day functional outcomes (modified Rankin Scale > 2) in AIS patients with HAI by analyzing electronic health records from 6560 AIS patients.

The traditional machine learning methods such as decision tree (DT), random forest (RF), and support vector machine (SVM) have low classification performance. This paper proposes an algorithm for the dry bean dataset and obesity levels dataset that can balance the minority class and the majority class and has a clustering function to improve the traditional machine learning classification accuracy and various performance indicators such as precision, recall, f1-score, and area under curve (AUC) for imbalanced data. The key idea is to use the advantages of borderline-synthetic minority oversampling technique (BLSMOTE) to generate new samples using samples on the boundary of minority class samples to reduce the impact of noise on model building, and the advantages of K-means clustering to divide data into different groups according to similarities or common features.
