Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is a rare but serious postoperative complication associated with irreversible electroporation (IRE). We report a case of postoperative PVT in a 54-year-old woman who underwent IRE for locally advanced pancreatic cancer. Drain removal and discharge of the patient from the hospital were scheduled on postoperative day (POD) 7; however, a magnetic resonance imaging scan revealed the presence of PVT. We suspected postoperative inflammation in the pancreas as the main cause of PVT. However, the patient did not undergo any medical treatment because she did not have any clinical symptoms, and she was discharged on POD 8.

Nutrition and inflammation are closely related to prognosis in breast cancer patients. However, current nutritional and inflammatory measures predict disease free survival (DFS) of breast cancer are still different, and the most predictive measures remain unknown. This study aimed to compare the predictive effects of commonly used nutritional and inflammatory measures on DFS and to improve existing nutritional or inflammatory measures in order to develop a new model that is more effective for predicting postoperative recurrence and metastasis in breast cancer patients.

Background: Esophagojejunal anastomotic fistula (EJF) following radical total gastrectomy is a severe perioperative complication in patients with gastric cancer, particularly as delayed fistula healing increases hospitalization costs and leads to poor prognosis. Numerous factors influence the occurrence and progression of EJF, with inflammation and nutritional status being significant contributors to perioperative complications. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the prediction of delayed EJF healing based on postoperative clinical and imaging-related inflammation-nutrition status.

Objective: Coronary artery bypass graft surgery is one of the most frequently performed surgeries worldwide. Coronary artery bypass graft surgery induces an inflammatory response. Interleukin-8 is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases.

Background: Complete blood cell count-based ratios (CBRs), including the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and monocyte-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), are inflammatory markers associated with postoperative morbidity. Given the link between the surgical stress response and complications after total joint arthroplasty (TJA), this study aimed to evaluate whether higher preoperative CBR values predict greater postoperative benefits associated with dexamethasone utilization.
Methods: The Premier Healthcare Database was queried for adult patients who underwent primary, elective total hip or knee arthroplasty (THA or TKA).

Background: Early knee effusion is a common phenomenon after total knee arthroplasty (TKA), with potential clinical implications. Unlike traditional alloy knee prostheses, the polyetheretherketone (PEEK) knee system has radiographic transparency on magnetic resonance (MR) scans, which allows analysis of prosthetic knee effusion. We aimed to identify the distribution and volume of knee effusion after TKA with the PEEK prosthesis with use of MR imaging and to analyze whether dynamic changes in effusion were correlated with serum inflammatory marker changes and knee function recovery.
