One new depsidone, polyanthadepsidone A (1), together with four known compounds were isolated from the dichloromethane extract of the leaves of Garcinia polyantha. The structures of all compounds were determined by comprehensive analyses of their 1D and 2D NMR and EI mass spectral data. All the isolates exhibited suppressive effect on phagocytosis response upon activation with serum opsonised zymosan in the IC range of 4.5-23.80 μM, tested in vitro for oxidative burst studies of whole blood.

Unconventional germination, wherein shoots emerge and establish true leaves before the root emerges, is only found in Zosteraceae. In , germination proceeds with the primary root emerging, followed by shoot emergence on the opposite side, but before leaf differentiation, adventitious roots emerge at the base of the shoots. However, germination and survival mechanisms in several species are still unclear.

Green synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles utilizing extract from leaves: Characterization and optimization of calcination temperature.

J Adv Vet Anim Res

September 2024

Research Center for Animal Husbandry, Research Organization for Agriculture and Food, The National Research and Innovation Agency of The Republic Indonesia, Bogor, Indonesia.

Objective: This study aims to synthesize eco-friendly zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) by utilizing leaf extract and assess the characteristics of ZnO NPs produced throughout different calcination temperatures (300°C, 400°C, 500°C, and 600°C).

Materials And Methods: An evaluation was conducted to analyze ZnO NPs using an aqueous extract of leaf bioreductor at different calcination temperatures. The analysis involved the use of a particle size analyzer (PSA), a scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy.

Identification and bioactivity evaluation of twelve previously undescribed depsidone derivatives from Garcinia oligantha.

Phytochemistry

November 2024

Key Laboratory of Structure-Based Drug Design & Discovery, Ministry of Education, School of Traditional Chinese Materia Medica, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, Shenyang, 110016, China. Electronic address:

Phytochemical studies on the leaves and twigs of Garcinia oligantha Merr. led to the isolation of twelve previously undescribed depsidone derivatives (oliganthdepsidones A-L, 1-12). Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis including H and C NMR, HSQC, HMBC and NOESY along with HRESIMS.
