This study aimed to identify operating conditions and governance mechanisms that would help to facilitate trust in, and willingness to donate to, a hypothetical Australian national genomic repository for health research where commercial use of data is permitted. Semi-structured telephone interviews with members of the Australian public ( = 39) clarified perceived risks and preferred repository conditions. These insights were subsequently tested experimentally in a national sample ( = 1,117).

The mainstay of management for uncomplicated type B aortic dissection is currently optimal medical therapy, targeting blood pressure and heart rate, along with serial imaging. There is a paucity of data that informs whether early intervention with thoracic endografting in this group of patients will promote aortic remodeling and better long-term outcomes. Investigations to date, including the Investigation of Stent Grafts in Aortic Dissection (INSTEAD), INSTEAD-XL, and Acute Dissection: Stent Graft or Best Medical Therapy (ADSORB) studies, have compared thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) with optimal medical therapy in patients with uncomplicated type B aortic dissection but have not shown a benefit for TEVAR conclusively.

Background: High turnover among the medical professions is detrimental to the healthcare system and population well-being, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) with limited financial and human resources. To prevent brain drain, effective strategies are vital to improve the retention of healthcare workers, especially doctors. However, little evidence has been synthesised regarding the effectiveness of these strategies, especially in LMICs.

Purpose: The association between nutritional risk status assessment and hospital mortality in older patients remains controversial. The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between nutritional risk on admission and in-hospital mortality, and explore the best Nutritional Risk Status Screening 2002 (NRS2002) threshold for predicting in-hospital mortality of older inpatients in China.
Method: The elderly inpatients were recruited from a hospital in Hunan Province, China.
