Fatty acid binding proteins (FABPs) are a class of small molecular mass intracellular lipid chaperone proteins that bind to hydrophobic ligands, such as long-chain fatty acids. FABP5 expression was significantly upregulated in the N-methyl-d-aspartic acid (NMDA) model, the microbead-induced chronic glaucoma model, and the DBA/2J mice. Previous studies have demonstrated that FABP5 can mediate mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress in ischemic neurons, but the role of FABP5 in oxidative stress and cell death in retina NMDA injury models is unclear.

Lactate dehydrogenase plays a key role in alleviating hypoxia during prolonged submergence. To explore the function of the OsLdh7 gene in enhancing submergence tolerance, we overexpressed this gene in rice (Oryza sativa cv. IR64) and subjected the transgenic lines to complete inundation.

Nitrogen Assimilation Plays a Role in Balancing the Chloroplastic Glutathione Redox Potential Under High Light Conditions.

Plant Cell Environ

Nitrate reduction requires reducing equivalents produced by the photosynthetic electron transport chain. Therefore, it has been suggested that nitrate assimilation provides a sink for electrons under high light conditions. We tested this hypothesis by monitoring photosynthetic efficiency and the chloroplastic glutathione redox potential (chl-E) of plant lines with mutated glutamine synthetase 2 (GS2) and ferredoxin-dependent glutamate synthase 1 (GOGAT1).

Approaches of promoting a neural milieu permissive for plasticity and resilience against neuronal injury are important strategies for the treatment of a range of neurological disorders. Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) which is known for its role as a potent regulator of glucose and energy metabolism has also proved to be neuroprotective against various mental diseases. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain elusive.

Unraveling the potential contribution of DHHC2 in cancer biology via untargeted metabolomics.

Department of Biosciences and Biomedical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Indore, Khandwa Road, Simrol, Madhya Pradesh 453552, India. Electronic address:

DHHC-mediated protein-S-palmitoylation is recognized as a distinct and reversible lipid modification, playing a pivotal role in the progression and prevention of multiple diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. Over the past decade, growing evidence indicates the crucial role of DHHC2 in preventing tumorigenesis by palmitoylation of various protein substrates. However, a comprehensive understanding of the specific impact of DHHC2 on cancer cell metabolic regulation remains unclear.
