A facile approach for the synthesis of magnetite microspheres with flower-like morphology is reported that proceeds via the reduction of iron(III) oxide under a hydrogen atmosphere. The ensuing magnetic catalyst is well characterized by XRD, FE-SEM, TEM, N adsorption-desorption isotherm, and Mössbauer spectroscopy and explored for a simple yet efficient transfer hydrogenation reduction of a variety of nitroarenes to respective anilines in good to excellent yields (up to 98%) employing hydrazine hydrate. The catalyst could be easily separated at the end of a reaction using an external magnet and can be recycled up to 10 times without any loss in catalytic activity.

The dry reforming of methane (DRM) could convert CH and CO into syngas, offering potential for greenhouse gas mitigation. However, DRM catalyst sintering and carbon deposition remain major obstacles. In this study, a highly dispersed PtNi alloy@Zr-doped 3D hollow flower-like MgAlO (AMO) spheres was prepared through a hydrophobic driving strategy.

The present work reports a clear and improved hydrothermal methodology for the synthesis of MoSe nanoflowers (MNFs) at 210 °C. To observe the effect of temperature on the fascinating properties, the process temperature was modified by ±10 °C. The as-prepared MNFs were found to consist of 2D nanosheets, which assembled into a 3D flower-like hierarchical morphology van der Waals forces.

The -doped biochar is recognized as a promising, cost-effective, and efficient material for CO adsorption. However, achieving efficient enrichment of -containing adsorption sites and improving their accessibility remains a bottleneck problem that restricts the adsorption performance of -doped biochar. Herein, a synthesis strategy for nitrogen-doped biochar by one-pot ionothermal treatment of biomass and zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) precursors accompanied by pyrolysis is demonstrated.

Novel core-shell flower-like polyamine/C dual-functional magnetic titanium dioxide-based oligopolymer (FeO@fTiO-PAPMA/C) microspheres were synthesized and used as a magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) adsorbent to purify 52 pesticides in bayberry samples. The FeO@fTiO-PAPMA/C microspheres were fully characterized and it can obviously improve the purification ability of 52 pesticides in bayberry samples. Coupled to LC-MS/MS, the developed method indicated low limits of detection (LODs) and limits of quantification (LOQs) of 0.

In our work, we report superior electrochemical performance of optimized 3D nanostructured, nickel-cobalt carbonate hydroxide hydrate (NiCo-CHH (1 ≤ x ≤ 2)) materials with flower like morphology synthesised via one-step hydrothermal methods. A Ni rich sample (x = 1) demonstrate better specific capacitance and the improvement is attributed to more oxygen deficient neighbourhood of Ni compared to that of Co. The structural, morphological and electronic properties of the samples were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), field emission electron microscopy (FESEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).
