The dynamic response of excitons in solids is central to modern condensed-phase physics, material sciences, and photonic technologies. However, study and control have hitherto been limited to photon energies lower than the fundamental band gap. Here we report application of attosecond soft x-ray and attosecond optical pulses to study the dynamics of core-excitons at the L edge of Si in silicon dioxide (SiO). This attosecond x-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy (AXANES) technique enables direct probing of the excitons' quasiparticle character, tracking of their subfemtosecond relaxation, the measurement of excitonic polarizability, and observation of dark core-excitonic states. Direct measurement and control of core-excitons in solids lay the foundation of x-ray excitonics.

Background: For radiotherapy of head and neck cancer (HNC) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plays a pivotal role due to its high soft tissue contrast. Moreover, it offers the potential to acquire functional information through diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) with the potential to personalize treatment. The aim of this study was to acquire repetitive DWI during the course of online adaptive radiotherapy on an 1.

Objectives: To determine whether deep learning-based reconstructions of zero-echo-time (ZTE-DL) sequences enhance image quality and bone visualization in cervical spine MRI compared to traditional zero-echo-time (ZTE) techniques, and to assess the added value of ZTE-DL sequences alongside standard cervical spine MRI for comprehensive pathology evaluation.

Methods: In this retrospective study, 52 patients underwent cervical spine MRI using ZTE, ZTE-DL, and T2-weighted 3D sequences on a 1.5-Tesla scanner.

Two undescribed rearranged diterpenoids, lobopaucinoids A and B (1 and 2), along with thirteen undescribed lobane-type diterpenoids lobopaucinoids C-O (3-15) including a C (11) and two C (12 and 13) undescribed norditerpenoids, were isolated from the soft coral Lobophytum pauciflorum Ehrenberg (Sarcophytidae family) collected from Xisha Islands of the South China Sea. Additionally, two undescribed prenyleudesmane-type diterpenoids, lobopaucinoids P and Q (16 and 17), as well as two known lobane diterpenoids (18 and 19), were also obtained. Their structures were elucidated based on comprehensive spectroscopic data, Mosher's method, Mo(OAc) or Rh(OCOCF)-induced circular dichroism experiment, quantum chemical calculations, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction and literature comparison.

Purpose: The positron range effect can impair PET image quality of Gallium-68 (Ga). A positron range correction (PRC) can be applied to reduce this effect. In this study, the effect of a tissue-independent PRC for Ga was investigated on patient data.

In the field of chiral smectic liquid crystals, orthoconic antiferroelectric liquid crystals (OAFLCs) have attracted the interest of the scientific community due to the very high tilt angle, close to 45°, and the consequent optical properties. In the present study, the first H NMR investigation is reported on two samples, namely 3F5HPhF9 and 3F7HPhF8, showing the phase sequence isotropic-SmC*-SmC* and the phase sequence isotropic-SmA-SmC*-SmC*, respectively, when cooling from the isotropic to the crystalline phases. To this aim, the liquid crystals were doped with a small amount of deuterated probe biphenyl-4,4'-diol-d.
