Background and aim Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), now known as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), is more common in people with type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) than in people without diabetes mellitus (non-DM). This disease can lead to cirrhosis or hepatic cancer. There is limited data on NAFLD prevalence and the level of risk of fibrosis in Bangladeshi individuals.

Background: Statins, as an important class of lipid-lowering drugs, play a key role in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. However, with their widespread use in clinical practice, some adverse events have gradually emerged. In particular, the hepatotoxicity associated with statins use has become one of the clinical concerns that require sufficient attention.

Purpose: The present work focused on assessing whether hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) combined with lenvatinib and tislelizumab was safe and effective on advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) showing high tumor burden.
Methods: In the present multicenter retrospective study, treatment-naive advanced HCC patients (BCLC stage C) showing high tumor burden (maximum diameter of intrahepatic lesion beyond 7 cm) treated with lenvatinib and tislelizumab with or without HAIC were reviewed for eligibility from June 2020 to June 2023. Baseline differences between groups were mitigated by propensity score matching (PSM).

Background: The modern approach to treating rectal cancer, which involves total mesorectal excision directed by imaging assessments, has significantly enhanced patient outcomes. However, locally recurrent rectal cancer (LRRC) continues to be a significant clinical issue. Identifying LRRC through imaging is complex, due to the mismatch between fibrosis and inflammatory pelvic tissue.

Introduction: Glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase 1 (GPD1) deficiency is an autosomal recessive disorder causing hypertriglyceridemia, hepatomegaly, fatty liver, and hepatic fibrosis in infancy. It is an under-recognized cause of pediatric steatotic liver disease (SLD) with only 36 cases reported worldwide.
Method: We analyzed the clinical profile of our five cases diagnosed by exome sequencing (ES) and reviewed the published cases till December 2023 using PubMed search.
