According to underlying law (Krankenanstaltengesetz) the internal structure of Departments of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) represents a matrix structure, defining formal roles and tasks of the personel. In contrast, external cooperation is defined in several different laws. Furthermore, patients and their systems are exhibiting a high tensional potential. These different influences can cause more or less severe enmeshments. Thus, during the treatment of this patients it is necessary to take into account the possibility of these enmeshments. It should be answered by special forms of care of the relationship between professionals and families. These special forms of relational care can be delivered by clear organizational structures and must undergo reflective processes on a regular basis. The planning and delivery of those structures is clearly seen as a central responsibility of the management of a CAP-Department.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been demonstrated to be an effective tool for cancer treatment. Seeking organelle-targeting photosensitizers (PSs) with robust reactive oxygen species (ROS) production is extremely in demand. Herein, we propose an aggregation-induced photosensitization strategy for effective PDT with osmium complexes.

Reports in the 1890s described reading disorders from left hemisphere damage. Subsequent work converging from a variety of research approaches have confirmed a strong dependence of reading on the left ventral occipitotemporal cortex, though there is also evidence for some reading capacity of the right hemisphere. The development of this leftward bias parallels reading acquisition in children and adults and is blunted in developmental dyslexia.

Using a historical or "development from" approach to study the development of hand-use preferences in infants and children, we show how various sensorimotor experiential events shape the cascade from initial to subsequent hand-use preferences. That cascade represents, creates, and shapes the lateralized asymmetry of neural circuits in the cerebral hemispheres. The control of the preferred hand requires neural circuits in the contralateral hemisphere that are capable of processing the organization of finely timed, sequentially organized movements and detecting haptic information derived from high-frequency transitions in the stimulus.

Background: Challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and social injustice complicated the nursing workforce, nursing education, and personal life inequities faced by Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing students from historically marginalized and minoritized communities (MMC). This article describes the process of forming a PhD in Nursing Student-Led Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Advisory Council to address these inequities.
Methods: The authors provide a blueprint for developing a similar group through supporting research and experiences.
Iatrogenesis is a recognised aspect of healthcare. But could kindness, a prized ingredient in such work, be implicated in some of the iatrogenic harm? In a recent paper, I noted how healthcare professionals and institutions that appear to value and vaunt kindness can, in practice, fall not just occasionally short, but often systemically so. Rather than insisting on these as aberrations, I wondered whether, our practice of kindness may, as with use of antibiotics or X-rays, have its own less considered but nonetheless harmful side effects.
