Background: Low-voltage-guided substrate modification is an emerging strategy in atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation. A major limitation to contemporary bipolar electrogram (EGM) analysis in AF is the resultant lower peak-to-peak voltage (V) from variations in wavefront direction relative to electrode orientation and from fractionation and collision events. We aim to compare bipole V with novel omnipolar peak-to-peak voltages (V) in sinus rhythm (SR) and AF.

Methods And Results: A high-density fixed multielectrode plaque was placed on the epicardial surface of the left atrium in dogs. Horizontal and vertical orientation bipolar EGMs, followed by omnipolar EGMs, were obtained and compared in both SR and AF. Bipole orientation has significant impact on bipolar EGM voltages obtained during SR and AF. In SR, vertical values were on average 66±119% larger than horizontal (=0.004). In AF, vertical values were on average 31±96% larger than horizontal (=0.07). Omnipole V values were 99.9±125% larger than both horizontal (99.9±125%; <0.001) and vertical (41±78%; <0.0001) in SR and larger than both horizontal (76±109%; <0.001) and vertical (52±70%; value <0.0001) in AF. Vector field analysis of AF wavefronts demonstrates that omnipolar EGMs can account for collision and fractionation and record EGM voltages unaffected by these events.

Conclusions: Omnipolar EGMs can extract maximal voltages from AF signals which are not influenced by directional factors, collision or fractionation, compared with contemporary bipolar techniques.

We aimed to investigate whether a linear relationship exists between swimming velocity and vertical body position for each stroke phase in front crawl, and to determine whether there are differences in the velocity effect among the stroke phases. Eleven male swimmers performed a 15 m front crawl at various swimming velocities. The whole-body centre of mass (CoM) was estimated from individual digital human models using inverse kinematics.

Wellbore stability in extreme drilling environments remains a critical challenge. This study advances the understanding of these complexities through a comprehensive numerical modeling approach. By incorporating thermal, chemical, and hydraulic effects, four refined models were developed to simulate wellbore behavior under high pressures and temperatures.

Surgical Outcomes for Sensory Exotropia in a Tertiary Hospital in Manila, Philippines.

Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, College of Medicine and Philippine General Hospital, University of the Philippines Manila, Manila, Philippines.

Background And Objective: There is no strict by-the-book rule as to which approach is the best strabismus surgery for patients with sensory exotropia. More commonly, a monocular lateral rectus recession and a medial rectus resection (monocular R & R; MRR) is performed in the eye with a poorer prognosis. Rarely, for larger deviations, a third or fourth horizontal muscle in the better eye is added.

Purpose: To assess the effects of modifying head position and of static ocular counter-rolling (OCR) on abduction and adduction in saccadic eye movements using a head-mounted video-oculographic device.

Study Design: A clinical observational study.

Methods: The peak velocities and amplitude gains of visually guided 12° saccades were binocularly measured in 21 healthy volunteers with their heads in the upright vertical (0°) and horizontal (± 90°, bilateral side-lying) postures, and in 6 participants with their head positions bilaterally tilted by 30°.

Resource partitioning is crucial for the coexistence of colonial herons, as it allows multiple species to share the same habitat while minimising competition. This study took advantage of a natural experiment in 2006 and 2007 when Black-crowned Night Herons were prevented from breeding at Lake Fetzara in the first year due to the presence of a feral cat. This event provided valuable insight into the spatial and temporal dynamics of nest site selection among coexisting heron species, which consisted of Cattle Egrets (), Little Egrets () and Squacco Herons ().
