We report, to our knowledge, the first case of a rare syphilitic infrarenal aortouniiliac aneurysm with contained rupture that presented with midepigastric abdominal pain. Review of the patient's medical history revealed untreated syphilis and poorly treated congestive heart failure. Given his comorbidities, the patient was treated with an emergent endovascular aneurysm repair. His 30-day postoperative recovery period was uneventful, and follow-up imaging revealed complete resolution of the aneurysms. Syphilitic infrarenal aortic aneurysm is currently considered a rare entity in this era of antibiotics. The present article provides a brief case report and short review of literature pertaining to syphilitic aortic aneurysms.

The objective of this study was to understand the microstructure, textural properties, and in-vitro starch digestibility of instant fried noodle enriched with cross-linked phosphorylated type 4 resistant wheat starch (CLWRS4). Pasting viscosity results showed that CLWRS4 granule had low swelling and high resistance to rupture during high-temperature steaming and frying. Scanning electron microscopic images showed that instant fried noodles prepared using wheat flours containing 20% and 40% CLWRS4 exhibited denser structure and lower porosity than their respective counterparts.

Endometrioma is a localized form of endometriosis, usually found within the ovaries bilaterally, containing degenerated blood products resulting from bleeding of ectopic endometriotic tissue at different ages. Rupture of the endometrioma is a rare complication that may result in hemoperitoneum and peritonitis and thus presents similarly to other more common abdominal emergencies, and the concomitant presence of a ruptured endometrioma and another abdominal emergency, although exceptional, remains possible. Ultrasonography and sectional imaging can be used to assess a diagnosis that is often confirmed postoperatively.
