Introduction: This report presents the latest findings from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey on the prevalence, awareness, treatment, and control of hypertension among adults in the United States during August 2021-August 2023.

Methods: Nationally weighted prevalence estimates of hypertension (systolic blood pressure of 130 mm Hg or above or diastolic blood pressure of 80 mm Hg or above, or self-report of current blood pressure medication use), self-reported awareness, self-reported treatment, and control (blood pressure less than 130/80 mm Hg) were obtained using National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey August 2021-August 2023 data. Variance estimates accounted for the complex survey design by using Taylor series linearization.

High Mobility Group Box 1 (HMGB1) is a nuclear protein released from damaged cells and implicated in the pathogenesis of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) through activation of pro-inflammatory and pro-survival responses. However, the role of intracellular HMGB1 signaling, particularly its interactions with DNA and transcriptional regulation, remains underexplored. In this study, we investigated the role of intracellular HMGB1 and its critical residue Cys106 by engineering cell-penetrating peptide (αHMGB1Cys106) that mimics part of the HMGB1 dimeric interface surrounding Cys106.

Purpose Of Review: Survivors of childhood cancer and hematopoietic cell transplant are at risk for developing chronic health conditions, including hypertension. Studies have identified hypertension as an influential risk factor for late kidney dysfunction and cardiovascular disease in childhood cancer survivors. The overall risk of hypertension depends on the specific cancer treatment, from chemotherapy to surgery to radiation.

Spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) is a rare clinical condition that may occur due to cerebrospinal fluid leakage. The purpose of this study was to compare the safety and efficacy of single catheter multisite epidural blood patch(CA-EBP) with standard procedures, including blinded and targeted epidural blood patch (EBP) for the treatment of SIH, and to investigate the effectiveness of dexamethasone as an adjuvant. Clinical data of 68 patients with postoperative SIH who underwent EBP between March 2022 and May 2024.

Wearable technology, such as photoplethysmography (PPG), enables easily accessible individual health data with the potential for improved risk assessment. We hypothesized that the overnight stiffness index (OSI), derived from nocturnal finger PPG, could be used to assess cardiovascular risk and vascular ageing. Subjects with confirmed or suspected hypertension (n = 79, 56 males) underwent simultaneous ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) and overnight sleep polygraphy with a continuous PPG registration.
