Aims: OnabotulinumtoxinA (onaBNTa) for treating neurogenic detrusor overactivity (NDO) is widely used after its regulatory approval in adults. Although the administration of onaBNTa is still considered off-label in children, data have already been reported on its efficacy and safety. Nowadays, there is a lack of standardized protocols for treatment of NDO with onaBNTa in adolescent patients in their transition from the childhood to the adult age. With the aim to address this issue a consensus panel was obtained.

Methods: A panel of leading urologists and urogynaecologists skilled in functional urology, neuro-urology, urogynaecology, and pediatric urology participated in a consensus-forming project using a Delphi method to reach national consensus on NDO-onaBNTa treatment in adolescence transitional care.

Results: In total, 11 experts participated. All panelists participated in the four phases of the consensus process. Consensus was reached if ≥70% of the experts agreed on recommendations. To facilitate a common understanding among all experts, a face-to-face consensus meeting was held in Rome in march 2015 and then with a follow-up teleconference in march 2017. By the end of the Delphi process, formal consensus was achieved for 100% of the items and an algorithm was then developed.

Conclusions: This manuscript represents the first report on the onaBNTa in adolescents. Young adults should be treated as a distinct sub-population in policy, planning, programming, and research, as strongly sustained by national public health care. This consensus and the algorithm could support multidisciplinary communication, reduce the extent of variations in clinical practice and optimize clinical decision making.

Evaluating Clinician Experience in Health Care Transition: Results From Six Health Systems.

Purpose: There is a paucity of evidence examining clinician experiences with structured health-care transition (HCT) programs. Among HCT Learning Collaborative participants, this study describes clinician experiences with implementation of a structured HCT process: Got Transition's 6 Core Elements.

Methods: Representative members from 6 health systems designed a survey to collect clinician feedback regarding HCT and demographic and practice information.

Background: Developing interventions along with the population of interest using systems thinking is a promising method to address the underlying system dynamics of overweight. The purpose of this study is twofold: to gain insight into the perspectives of adolescents regarding: (1) the system dynamics of energy balance-related behaviours (EBRBs) (physical activity, screen use, sleep behaviour and dietary behaviour); and (2) underlying mechanisms and overarching drivers of unhealthy EBRBs.

Methods: We conducted Participatory Action Research (PAR) to map the system dynamics of EBRBs together with adolescents aged 10-14 years old living in a lower socioeconomic, ethnically diverse neighbourhood in Amsterdam East, the Netherlands.

Background: Adolescents in foster care endure frequent disruptive transitions, often culminating in discharge to independent living rather than reunification or adoption. Former foster youth fare poorly once on their own, with high rates of homelessness and social disconnection. This study explored the use of the Bridges Transitions Framework near the end of placement to help youth cope with the transition to adulthood.

Patterns of Change in Athletic Identity After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction.

Int J Environ Res Public Health

January 2025

Department of Psychology, Springfield College, 263 Alden Street, Springfield, MA 01109, USA.

Changes in athletic identity have been documented after injury and other sport transitions in nomothetic investigations. Patterns of change in athletic identity after injury have not been examined systematically at the individual level. In the current study, secondary analyses were performed on two data sets ( = 43 and = 80) in which athletic identity values were available for before and at least six months after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction.
