Addition of a calcium hydride complex to diphenylacetylene gave a complex in which the stilbene dianion symmetrically bridges two Ca ions. DFT calculations discuss the effect of the metal stilbene coordination. The stilbene complex reacts as a base (with H) or an electron donor (with I) and catalyzes the reduction of diphenylacetylene.

Ion channels play a crucial role in cardiac functions, and their activities exhibit dynamic changes during heart development. However, the precise function of ion channels in human heart development remains elusive. In this study, we utilized human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) as a model to mimic the process of human embryonic heart development.

Objective: We investigated the effects of resveratrol (Res) and MCC950 on the pyroptosis of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) and the potential pathway.

Methods And Results: Compared with the control (Con) group, the atherosclerosis (AS) group showed calcified nodules, which suggested that the calcification medium induced the calcification of VSMCs. VSMCs showed proliferative activity and significantly attenuated calcification under treatment with 10 mol/L Res.

In the clinic, Lipiodol chemotherapeutic emulsions remain a main choice for patients diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) via the mini-invasive transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) therapy. However, the poor stability of conventional Lipiodol chemotherapeutic emulsions would result in the fast drug diffusion and incomplete embolization, inducing systemic toxicity and impairing the efficacy of TACE therapy. Therefore, it is of great importance to construct alternative formulations based on commercial Lipiodol to achieve the improved efficacy and safety of HCC treatment.

The relationship between alcohol consumption and incident ischemic heart disease and stroke is characterized by a J- or U-shape. This denotes that light drinking has a preventive effect on cardiovascular diseases. Effects of alcohol drinking on lipid metabolism including an increase in HDL cholesterol concentration and a decrease in LDL cholesterol concentration are the main reasons for the anti-atherosclerotic action of alcohol.

Resveratrol has been extensively studied for its multifaceted health benefits. Nonetheless, the pharmacological mechanisms of resveratrol for heart failure remain elusive, especially the cardioprotective effects. To address this knowledge gap, we performed high-throughput drug screening using zebrafish and discovered that resveratrol significantly alleviated heart failure, including rescuing abnormalities in heart rate, blood flow, cardiac output, and nppb overexpression.
