Using a unique record keeping system, the use effectiveness of the Copper T-200 is examined in rural Bangladesh. In Matlab the Copper T-200 is a highly effective contraceptive modality. The adopters are typically low to medium parity women under 30 years of age. The most important cause of termination among women in the study was voluntary removal of the device. The complaint most often reported was bleeding followed by pain and weakness. The Matlab experience suggests that sustained motivation and regular resupply are the two key components of this highly successful family planning program.

The present study is dedicated to the experimental verification of a concept for the hydrogenolysis of glycerol over in situ-generated Cu dispersed particles (Cu-DP). The Cu-DP were generated by in situ reduction of a precursor salt (Cu(OAc), CuSO, CuCl) in the presence of KOH and were active in glycerol conversion under hydrogen (T = 200-220 °C, p(H) = 1-4 MPa), where 1,2-propylene glycol (PG) and lactic acid (LA) were detected to be the main products. The influence of the reaction conditions (temperature, hydrogen pressure, reaction time, catalyst-to-feed ratio and the KOH/Cu ratio) on the yields of the products is described.

The reactivity of the PGeP germylene 2,2'-bis(di-isopropylphosphanylmethyl)-5,5'-dimethyldipyrromethane-1,1'-diylgermanium(II), Ge(pyrmPiPr ) CMe , with late first-row transition metal (Fe-Zn) dichlorides has been investigated. All reactions led to PGeP pincer chloridogermyl complexes. The reactions with FeCl and CoCl afforded paramagnetic square planar complexes of formula [MCl{κ P,Ge,P-GeCl(pyrmPiPr ) CMe }] (M=Fe, Co).

Introduction: The search for an ideal contraceptive device most suited for women of developing countries with anemia poses a challenge.
Aim: This study was conducted to compare the effects of levonorgestrel releasing (LNG) and copper releasing (Cu T) intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUCD) on body iron stores and menstrual bleeding patterns.
Methods: Hundred women desiring contraception were divided into two groups of fifty each where either LNG or Cu T 200 IUCD was inserted.
