Assessment and treatment of pervasive anxiety.

Psychother Psychosom

Published: July 1987

Definitions of the central symptoms of anxiety disorders are given and these are followed by the principles underlying assessment; a discussion of rating scales for the detection and measurement of morbid degrees of anxiety follows. The important points in assessment prior to therapy are outlined and emphasis is placed on the possibility of distinguishing biogenic (endogenous) anxiety states from the more usual psychogenic forms of anxiety disorder. This distinction is of major importance when devising the therapeutic plan: biogenic depressive states, of which the early stage of panic disorder is one form, are resistant to psychotherapeutic intervention but may respond to treatment with antidepressant drugs. The principles of brief psychotherapeutic intervention are outlined with emphasis on the two central themes underlying successful therapy: the development of self-control and the exposure of the patient to anxiety in the setting of the therapeutic programme.

Laboratory of Automation and Manufacturing Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering, Batna 2 University, Batna 05000, Algeria.

Brain tumor detection is crucial in medical research due to high mortality rates and treatment challenges. Early and accurate diagnosis is vital for improving patient outcomes, however, traditional methods, such as manual Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) analysis, are often time-consuming and error-prone. The rise of deep learning has led to advanced models for automated brain tumor feature extraction, segmentation, and classification.

The longstanding view of doctors as scientists has been an emphasis in the MCAT and medical school training. However, the AAMC recommended recognizing the importance of social and behavioral science for medicine. There is also a growing realization that being a smart problem solver and the physician as scientist model emphasizes a cold cognitive problem-solving paradigm that overlooks other human capacities that may be critical to medical reasoning and decision-making.

This review focuses on antimicrobial packaging for food safety, critically examining the activity and efficacy of cannabinoids against commonly found microorganisms and exploring their antimicrobial mechanisms. Specifically, the review considers cannabinoids derived from industrial hemp plants, which are characterized by low levels of psychoactive components. It also outlines viable strategies to control the sustained release of cannabinoids from the packaging, enabling extended storage and enhanced safety of food products.
