Weeksella virosa is an atypical Gram-negative bacterium that does not grow on MacConkey agar. In this report, we present a 4-year-old female patient with Addison's disease and end-stage renal failure secondary to focal sclerosing glomerulosclerosis. Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis had been performed, and 3 months later, the patient developed fever, diarrhea, and vomiting.

In the present study, organisms responsible for peritonitis and their sensitivity to antibiotics were evaluated in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients in Bangladesh. We collected PD effluent from 100 peritonitis cases and sent samples to the laboratory for Gram stain and cytology. Peritonitis is one of the most frequent complications of continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). Necrosis and exfoliation of the mesothelial cell layer of the peritoneum develop during the acute phase of peritonitis. Agents that hamper regeneration of mesothelial cells will cause delayed recovery of the peritoneal surface, which results in continuous exposure of underlying stem cells to the stimulation of growth factors and possibly leads to peritoneal fibrosis syndrome.
