The purpose of this study was to identify potential BI-RADS 3 mass descriptors on breast magnetic resonance imaging by systematically defining positive predictive values (PPV). In a blinded retrospective review of BI-RADS 4 masses, reader 1 identified 132 masses and reader 2 identified 76 masses. PPV for mass descriptors and for descriptor combinations was determined. No mass descriptor resulted in a PPV ≤2% (BI-RADS 3 threshold). Descriptors with the lowest PPVs were circumscribed margin (8%), rim internal enhancement and persistent kinetics (13% each), and oval shape (15%). The results demonstrate the difficulty in transferring the theoretical concept of lesion surveillance to systematic clinical use.

Site density and turnover frequency are the two fundamental kinetic descriptors that determine the oxygen reduction activity of iron-nitrogen-carbon (Fe-N-C) catalysts. However, it remains a grand challenge to simultaneously optimize these two parameters in a single Fe-N-C catalyst. Here we show that treating a typical Fe-N-C catalyst with ammonium iodine (NH4I) vapor via a one-step chemical vapor deposition process not only increases the surface area and porosity of the catalyst (and thus enhanced exposure of active sites) via the etching effect of the in-situ released NH3, but also regulates the electronic structure of the Fe-N4 moieties by the iodine dopants incorporated into the carbon matrix.

Background: Recent findings have highlighted that abnormal energy metabolism is a key feature of autosomal-dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). Emerging evidence suggests that nutritional ketosis could offer therapeutic benefits, including potentially slowing or even reversing disease progression. This systematic review aims to synthesise the literature on ketogenic interventions to evaluate the impact in ADPKD.

Despite the significant benefits of aquatic passive sampling (low detection limits and time-weighted average concentrations), the use of passive samplers is impeded by uncertainties, particularly concerning the accuracy of sampling rates. This study employed a systematic evaluation approach based on the combination of meta-analysis and quantitative structure-property relationships (QSPR) models to address these issues. A comprehensive meta-analysis based on extensive data from 298 studies on the Polar Organic Chemical Integrative Sampler (POCIS) identified essential configuration parameters, including the receiving phase (type, mass) and the diffusion-limiting membrane (type, thickness, pore size), as key factors influencing uptake kinetic parameters.

Proteolysis-targeting chimeras (PROTACs) are heterobifunctional molecules that target undruggable proteins, enhance selectivity and prevent target accumulation through catalytic activity. The unique structure of PROTACs presents challenges in structural identification and drug design. Liquid chromatography (LC), combined with mass spectrometry (MS), enhances compound annotation by providing essential retention time (RT) data, especially when MS alone is insufficient.

Polymers are widely produced and contribute significantly to environmental pollution due to their low recycling rates and persistence in natural environments. Biodegradable polymers, while promising for reducing environmental impact, account for less than 2% of total polymer production. To expand the availability of biodegradable polymers, research has explored structure-biodegradability relationships, yet most studies focus on specific polymers, necessitating further exploration across diverse polymers.
