The prevailing trend in industrial equipment development is integration, with pipelines as the lifeline connecting system components. Given the often harsh conditions of these industrial equipment pipelines, leakage is a common occurrence that can disrupt normal operations and, in severe cases, lead to safety accidents. Early detection of even minor drips at the onset of leakage can enable timely maintenance measures, preventing more significant leaks and halting the escalation of pipeline failures.

The petroleum industry is essential for supplying crude oil, which is vital for fuel and chemicals and drives substantial investments in technologies, especially in regard to increasing the durability of the drill strings used in wellbore construction. This study aims to establish and to validate a hardbanding technology for reconditioning NC50 tool joints subjected to wear, thereby increasing drill pipe durability and reducing the risk of failure during drilling, which can lead to ecological pollution, human safety issues, and financial costs. The hardbanding of the tool joints was carried out using the gas metal arc welding process (GMAW) with two different wear-resistant wires, ARNCO 100XT and FLUXOFIL M58.

Lead(IV) oxide (PbO) is an important component of the scale in many lead pipes used for water supply. Promoting conditions that maintain its stability could be an effective method for limiting lead release. In this study, we applied a method that combined electrochemical and free chlorine conditioning to form PbO scales on coupons.

This study investigated lead (Pb) transport through new, biofilm-laden, and calcium carbonate-scaled crosslinked polyethylene (PEX-A) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) potable water pipes. The research focused on Pb accumulation through short-term exposure incidents (6 h) and Pb release for a longer duration (5 d). A mechanistic investigation of the surface morphology variations of plastic pipes following biofilm and scale formation has been conducted.
