The activity of Tb was measured in waste samples from the Ignalina NPP Unit I RBMK-1500 reactor using gamma-ray spectrometry. The origin of Tb and the other observed gamma-ray emitters has been studied by using SCALE 6.1 modeling and comparing radionuclide ratios in the RBMK-1500 radioactive waste. The results of the calculation of the massic activity of gamma-ray emitters were used for interpretation of the total gamma-ray spectrum and the determination of Tb massic activity uncertainty in the waste of RBMK-1500.

Objective: to investigate changes in DNA methylation in bystander and inducer cells during the manifestation ofdirect and rescue bystander effects.
Methods: Separate and co-cultivation of peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) of 10 conditionally healthy individuals; γ-quantum irradiation (IBL-237C emitter); modified comet electrophoresis method (Comet assay) under neutralconditions using the methylation-sensitive restriction enzyme HpaII; fluorescence microscopy with an automatedcomputer software system for analyzing the results; statistical methods.
Results: The level of DNA methylation in PBL was quantitatively assessed using DNA migration parameters inagarose gel: the length of the comet tail (in μm), the percentage of DNA in the tail part of the comet, and TailMoment (TM), which simultaneously takes into account both the amount of DNA in the tail part of the comet andthe length of the tail.

Conventionally, if two metabolic processes are of interest for image analysis, two separate, sequential positron emission tomography (PET) scans are performed. However, sequential PET scans cannot simultaneously display the metabolic targets. The concurrent study of two simultaneous PET scans could provide new insights into the causes of diseases.

Background: Targeted radionuclide therapy with Lu-labelled small conjugates is expanding rapidly, and its success is linked to appropriate patient selection. Companion diagnostic conjugates are usually labelled with Ga, offering good imaging up to ≈2 h post-injection. However, the optimal tumor-to-background ratio is often reached later.

The radioisotopes of Sc and Sc are promising in the field of theranostics for their role as β emitters in theranostic pairs with Sc. Production of these isotopes through various nuclear reactions using either cyclotrons or linear accelerators is of particular interest and previous studies have provided results using accelerated beams of protons, deuterons, and alpha particles. A novel production technique, using an ion source cathode packed with natural calcium fluoride material and irradiated with a He beam, was tested at the Nuclear Science Laboratory at the University of Notre Dame in order to initially study the production of Ca.

We investigated decays of ^{51,52,53}K at the ISOLDE Decay Station at CERN in order to understand the mechanism of the β-delayed neutron-emission (βn) process. The experiment quantified neutron and γ-ray emission paths for each precursor. We used this information to test the hypothesis, first formulated by Bohr in 1939, that neutrons in the βn process originate from the structureless "compound nucleus.
