Random walks with long-range memory on networks.

Chaos

January 2025

Instituto de Física, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Mexico City 04510, Mexico.

We study an exactly solvable random walk model with long-range memory on arbitrary networks. The walker performs unbiased random steps to nearest-neighbor nodes and intermittently resets to previously visited nodes in a preferential way such that the most visited nodes have proportionally a higher probability to be chosen for revisit. The occupation probability can be expressed as a sum over the eigenmodes of the standard random walk matrix of the network, where the amplitudes slowly decay as power-laws at large times, instead of exponentially.

Dietary breadth in kangaroos facilitated resilience to Quaternary climatic variations.

Science

January 2025

College of Science and Engineering, Flinders University, Bedford Park, South Australia, Australia.

Identifying what drove the late Pleistocene megafaunal extinctions on the continents remains one of the most contested topics in historical science. This is especially so in Australia, which lost 90% of its large species by 40,000 years ago, more than half of them kangaroos. Determining causation has been obstructed by a poor understanding of their ecology.

INhibitor of Growth (ING1-5) proteins are epigenetic readers that target histone acetyltransferase (HAT) or histone deacetylase (HDAC) complexes to the H3K4Me3 mark of active transcription. ING5 targets Moz/Morf and HBO1 HAT complexes that alter acetylation of H3 and H4 core histones, affecting gene expression. Previous experiments in vitro indicated that ING5 functions to maintain stem cell character in normal and in cancer stem cells.

Fluorescence immunochromatographic assay for deoxynivalenol using immunomagnetic bead purification.

Food Addit Contam Part A Chem Anal Control Expo Risk Assess

January 2025

College of Animal Science and Technology, Beijing University of Agriculture, Beijing, China.

Deoxynivalenol (DON) contaminates various complex matrices, necessitating straightforward, effective cleanup and precise detection methods. This study employed immunomagnetic beads for sample purification and utilized a competitive time-resolved fluoro-immuno-chromatographic assay to achieve quantitative detection of DON in corn and its by-products. The limits of detection and quantification were 104 μg/kg and 243 μg/kg, respectively.
