Objective: Some brachial cuffs for oscillometric blood pressure (BP) measurement are claimed to cover a wide range of upper-arm circumferences; however, their validation is rarely conducted. Our aim was to compare oscillometric BP measurements obtained with a universal cuff with those obtained with an appropriately sized cuff.
Methods: We utilised the Microlife B6 Connect monitor, conducting oscillometric BP measurements in a random sequence with both a universal cuff (recommended for arm circumferences from 22 to 42 cm) and an appropriately sized cuff (medium for circumference 22-32 cm and large for 32-42 cm).

Background: In the last few decades, the global disease epidemiology shift has resulted in the preponderance of noncommunicable diseases such as Metabolic Syndrome (MetS). Globally, an increasing prevalence is reported among children and adolescents in whom the condition was once rare. There is a dearth of data in Nigeria on MetS, especially among normal-weight adolescents.

Objective: Recommendations about the dimensions of the reference cuff for device validations in people with arm size >42 cm are still unavailable. The aim of this study was to identify the criteria for an appropriate reference cuff for validation studies in people with upper arm circumference between 43 and 50 cm.
Methods: In 20 adults with upper arm circumference between 43 and 50 cm (X-large group), 34 subjects with arm circumference between 37 and 42 cm and 78 subjects with arm circumference <37 cm cylindrical and tronco-conical cuffs were compared.

Home blood pressure monitoring provides important diagnostic information beyond in-office blood pressure readings and offers similar results to ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. Home blood pressure monitoring involves patients independently measuring their blood pressure with an electronic device, whereas ambulatory blood pressure monitoring involves patients wearing a portable monitor for 24 to 48 hours. Although ambulatory blood pressure monitoring is the diagnostic standard for measurement, home blood pressure monitoring is more practical and accessible to patients, and its use is recommended by the U.
