Background: This study aims to address the timing of repair for severe congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) without the use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and to determine the feasibility of an earlier intervention to avoid deaths associated with non-repair in patients who are more challenging to stabilize without ECMO.
Methods: This single-center retrospective study was conducted on neonates with CDH from 2013 to 2023. Based on the timing of surgery, the patients were classified into three groups: <24 hours (group A), 24-48 hours (group B) and ≥48 hours (group C).

Introduction: During hemodialysis (HD), the presence of clots in the dialyzer can diminish the effective surface area of the device. In severe cases, clot formation in the circuit can halt treatment and lead to blood loss in the system. Thus, ensuring proper anticoagulation during HD is crucial to prevent clotting in the circuit while safeguarding the patient from bleeding risks.

Background: Intraoperative hemorrhage is one of the major complications of orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) and is mainly caused by technical difficulties of the surgical procedure besides primary liver diseases. The present study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and clinical effects of a novel proceduralized donor liver back-table preparation (DLBTP) technique for use in OLT.
Methods: This retrospective study was conducted between January 2018 and June 2020 based on patients who had undergone OLT.

This 5 year retrospective study presents the clinical experience with preprimed extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) circuits used in a Single Hub Center Hospital, focusing on sterility, functionality, and safety. The ECMO program has been active since 2019, with a total of 223 circuits managed. Our preassembled and preprimed ECMO circuits were stored in a sterile environment and continuously circulated until implantation.

ECMO is an advanced technology for extracorporeal respiratory and circulatory support. It involves the extraction of venous blood from the patient's body, which is subsequently oxygenated within an oxygenator (or membrane lung). This oxygen-rich blood is reinfused either into veins or arteries, rapidly compensating for impaired lung and heart functionalities.
