Silicon wire waveguide TE/TE mode conversion Bragg grating can be used in wavelength add/drop and polarization rotation Bragg diffraction. The device can implement many filtering functionalities required in wavelength division multiplexing optical communications. In this paper we describe TE/TE mode conversion Bragg grating device incorporating resonant cavity section to obtain narrow transmission wavelength peak. Theoretical calculation agreed with measured wavelength response.

The phenomenon of phase change transition has been a fascinating research subject over decades due to a possibility of dynamically controlled materials properties, allowing the creation of optical devices with unique features. The present paper unravels the optical characteristics and terahertz (THz) dielectric permittivity of a novel phase change material (PCM), GeTe, prepared by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and their remarkable contrast in crystalline and amorphous states, in particular, a difference of 7 orders of magnitude in conductivity. The THz spectra were analyzed using the harmonic oscillator and Drude term.

The mode-division-multiplexing (MDM) technology has become an alternative solution to further increase the link capacity in optical communication systems. Ultralow loss waveguide crossings for multimode waveguides are requisite in on-chip MDM systems. We propose and demonstrate an ultralow loss silicon multimode waveguide crossing using a combination of fully etched and shallowly etched waveguides in the multimode-interference coupler region to reduce the imbalance for two transverse electric polarized (TE) modes.

We propose an on-chip optical narrowband reflector (NBR) based on two cascaded Bragg gratings (BGs). A π phase shifted anti-symmetric Bragg grating (π-PS-ASBG) and a rear uniform Bragg grating (UBG), are in-line connected. The π-PS-ASBG provides a hybrid mode resonance between the even- and odd TE (TE and TE) modes, while the UBG is used as a rear reflector to reflect the TE mode that transmitted from the π-PS-ASBG.

Single-crystalline FeTe in marcasite phase with orthorhombic structure was prepared via chemical vapor transport. Cooling FeTe single crystals from room temperature down to [Formula: see text], multiple magnetic phase transitions were observed. Paramagnetic (PM) to antiferromagnetic (AFM) and then to ferromagnetic (FM) occurred at [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] for in-plane, [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] for out-of-plane, respectively.

Department of Conservative Dentistry, Chair of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Faculty of Medicine with the Division of Dentistry, Medical University of Lodz, Poland.

Background: Biodentine® is a bioactive calcium silicate-based material, with better strength parameters, an easier application method and a shorter setting time than mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). The bond strength between Biodentine and the composite material is essential for the durability of the layered restoration.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to evaluate the bond strength of Biodentine to a resin-based composite at various acid etching times and with different adhesive strategies.
