A cationic photo-curable cycloaliphatic epoxy resin has been investigated as reactive monomer in blue light crosslinking process. We have demonstrated that camphorquinone is able to abstract labile hydrogen from the epoxy monomer, giving rise to the formation of carbon-centered radicals that are oxidized by the onium salt; a complete epoxy group conversion was reached after 50 s of irradiation. The presence of water up to 1 wt% was tolerated without any important detrimental effect on the kinetics of light-curing. The presence of the inorganic filler up to 65 wt% did not significantly influence the curing process.

Polymeric coatings that combine resistance to adhesion ("defending") and killing ("attacking") of biocontaminants were proposed to endow the surface with nonadhesive and bactericidal capabilities. In contrast, a zwitterionic copolymer P(GMA--DMAPS) with antifouling groups ([2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]dimethyl-(3-sulfopropyl)ammonium hydroxide, DMAPS) and a zwitterionic/cationic copolymer P(GMA--DMAPS--DMC) with bactericidal groups ([2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride, DMC) were synthesized, of which the latter exhibited synergistic inhibitory and killing properties. The distinct feed ratios of monomers were conducted, and the optimal molar ratio was obtained.

Disruptive multiple cell death pathways of bisphenol-A.

Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) significantly contribute to health issues by interfering with hormonal functions. Bisphenol A (BPA), a prominent EDC, is extensively utilized as a monomer and plasticizer in producing polycarbonate plastic and epoxy resins, making it one of the highest-demanded chemicals in commercial use. This is the major component used in plastic products, including bottles, containers, storage items, and food serving ware.

The pursuit of carbon circularity in the fabrication of new materials has driven the increased use of recycled and biobased resources, a practice that has become more prevalent in recent years. In epoxy resin systems, alternatives to the use of fossil-based bisphenols have been proposed such as via the production of recycled bisphenol A (r-BPA) or by substitution with lignin derivatives, both of which are recovered from previous processes, promoting circularity. For this study, r-BPA was obtained via the chemical recycling of plastic blends from end-of-life (eol) televisions (TV).

Impact of pre-crosslinks on the self-transformation performance of thermoplastic polyesters into vitrimers intermolecular transesterification.

We recently proposed a concept of self-transformation from thermoplastic polyesters into vitrimers intermolecular bond exchange as the cross-linking reaction. Key was the use of polyesters bearing hydroxyl side groups, which were cross-linked without additional cross-linkers through intermolecular transesterification in the presence of a suitable catalyst. In our previous study, a linear polyester was synthesized as the starting polymer by reacting dithiol monomers containing ester bonds (2-SH) with diepoxy monomers (2-epoxy) a thiol-epoxy reaction, generating hydroxyl side groups along the polyester chain.

Cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) technology has begun to be adopted for drinking water pipe repairs, and limited information exists about its drinking water quality impacts. CIPP involves the manufacture of a new plastic pipe inside a buried damaged pipe. In this study, the chemical composition of the raw materials and CIPP water quality impacts were examined.
