Cloxacillin, a semisynthetic penicillin is a potent inhibitor of most penicillinase-producing Staphylococci. Use of high doses of Cloxacillin for 6 weeks is recommended for the treatment of infective endocarditis caused by methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA). Here, we report a case of Cloxacillin-induced agranulocytosis in a patient treated for MSSA native tricuspid valve endocarditis, which was resolved after discontinuation of the antibiotic. This case report highlights a rare adverse event of a commonly used antibiotic.

Anagen effluvium is a rare adverse effect of methotrexate therapy, generally associated with high-dose regimens. We report a 12-year-old girl who developed abrupt hair loss 1 week after inadvertently taking methotrexate 15 mg daily for five consecutive days (total 75 mg), without other signs of systemic toxicity. Trichoscopic examination and trichogram findings confirmed methotrexate-induced anagen effluvium, and spontaneous hair regrowth occurred after 2 months.

Adult growth hormone deficiency (AGHD) is a rare disease with both physiological and psychological effects for untreated patients. AGHD symptoms can improve over time with GH treatment. Here we have analyzed the long-term effectiveness and safety of short-acting GH replacement therapy (GHRT) in treatment naïve and nonnaïve patients with AGHD using real-world data from the NordiNet® International Outcome Study and American Norditropin® Studies: Web Enabled Research Program.

Introduction: Myositis is a rare extra-intestinal presentation in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), and its occurrence has only been described in a few case reports. However, it is essential to consider other potential causes as patients with IBD are more susceptible to infections due to their immunocompromised status, which may also be exacerbated by immunosuppressive drugs contributing to myositis. Our case highlights the complexity and challenges in diagnosing and managing myositis in patients with IBD as well as a review of the literature.
