Over 60% of women with endometriosis experience abdominopelvic pain and broader pain manifestations, including chronic back pain, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, vulvodynia, and migraine. Although the imbalance of proinflammatory mediators, including the complement component C5a, is associated with endometriosis-related pain, the mechanisms causing widespread pain and the C5a role remain unclear. Female mice and women with endometriosis exhibit increased plasma C5a levels and pain.

Background: Mucosal immune-associated γδ T cells have been implicated in IgA nephropathy (IgAN). However, the involvement of Vδ1 T cells, the major γδ T cells subtype, in renal damage and the mechanism underlying their migration from peripheral blood to kidney in IgAN remain unclear.

Complement activation and Rab GTPase trafficking are commonly observed in inflammatory responses. Recruitment of innate immune cells to sites of infection or injury and secretion of inflammatory chemokines are promoted by complement component 5a (C5a) that activates the cell surface protein C5a receptor1 (C5aR1). Introduction: Membranous nephropathy (MN) is a common chronic kidney disease in adults and a major challenge of clinical practice for its treatment. Despite major advances, since the discovery of the phospholipase A2 receptor as the major autoantigen of podocytes in MN, the mechanisms leading to glomerular damage remain elusive. Pyroptosis, a newly discovered type of programed necrotic cell death mainly mediated by gasdermin, was found to be responsible for podocyte injury in MN in our recent work.
