Skeletal muscle relaxants have their place in everyday use in numerous anesthesiological procedures, such as preparing a patient for surgery, supporting mechanical ventilation, and performing effective intubation. These drugs can be divided, based on their mechanism of action, into depolarizing skeletal relaxants, such as succinylcholine, and non-depolarizing skeletal muscle relaxants. Non-depolarizing agents are further categorized, based on their structure, into steroidal (eg, rocuronium) and benzylisoquinoline (eg, atracurium) compounds.

Objectives: Pressurized IntraThoracic Aerosol Chemotherapy (PITAC) is a minimally invasive cancer-directed therapy for patients with malignant pleural effusion (MPE) and/or pleural metastasis (PLM). PITAC is based on Pressurized IntraPeritoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy, which has proven to be safe and feasible. Since 2012, 47 PITACs have been published, and prospective data on feasibility, safety and potential local response are lacking.

Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is initiated by a primary insult that triggers a cascade of pathological events, including damage to lung epithelial and endothelial cells, extracellular matrix disruption, activation of immune cells, and the release of pro-inflammatory mediators. These events lead to increased alveolar-capillary barrier permeability, resulting in interstitial/alveolar edema, collapse, and subsequent hypoxia and hypercapnia. ARDS not only affects the lungs but also significantly impacts the cardiovascular system.

<b>Introduction:</b> Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a chronic inflammatory disorder characterized by episodes of total or partial upper airway obstruction during sleep. Untreated OSA leads to various cardiovascular complications, including heart failure (HF), both involving complex and detrimental pathophysiological processes.<b>Aim:</b> The aim of this study is to describe the role of rostral fluid shifts and other mechanisms responsible for the co-existence of OSA and HF, providing insight into potential diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
