Background: Rapid, reproducible, and noninvasive diagnostic methods like Ultrasonography (US) and plethysmographic measurements such as the perfusion index (PI) and pleth variablity index (PVI) have great potential value for emergency trauma cases in which blood loss needs to be recognized quickly and accurately.
Objectives: We planned this study to evaluate the utility of US, PI, and PVI in detecting early-stage hemorrhage and mimicking volume replacement using a platelet apheresis model.
Methods: This prospective, observational study included 46 healthy platelet apheresis volunteers who met inclusion criteria.

Vascular function is impaired by conditions such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, and diabetes as well as coronary risk factors including age, smoking, obesity, menopause and physical inactivity. Measurement of vascular function is useful not only for assessment of atherosclerosis itself but also in many other aspects such as understanding the pathophysiology, assessing treatment efficacy, and predicting prognosis of cardiovascular events. It is therefore important to accurately assess the extent of vascular function.

Purpose: Research on rare diseases and atypical health care demographics is often slowed by high interparticipant heterogeneity and overall scarcity of data. Synthetic data (SD) have been proposed as means for data sharing, enlargement, and diversification, by artificially generating real phenomena while obscuring the real patient data. The utility of SD is actively scrutinized in health care research, but the role of sample size for actionability of SD is insufficiently explored.

Introduction: Timely identification of the need for lifesaving intervention in battlefield conditions may be improved through automated monitoring of the injured warfighter. Technologies that combine maximal noninvasive insight with minimal equipment footprint give the greatest opportunity for deployment at scale with inexperienced providers in forward areas. Finger photoplethysmography (PPG) signatures are associated with impending hemorrhagic shock but may be insufficient alone.

: Some vascular alterations such as peripheral arterial disease (PAD) or arterial stiffness can alter perfusion of the limbs, so we wondered if this is reflected in the temperature of the soles of the feet of diabetic patients who did not have a diagnosis of peripheral arterial disease. Foot sole temperature was correlated with the ankle-brachial index (ABI), carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV), brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV), and arterial age. A total of 175 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, without a previous diagnosis of PAD, were recruited.
